CHAPTER 20

ADAM'S POV

It's been a day since I told her my secret and since then She has became very awkward around me.

I am not going to lie it hurt when she said she can't go on a date me because of his Fucking step brother David.How can he has so much power over her.He is just his step brother not his real one.

I was walking towards my next class when I spotted Alaina talking to Veronica.Why is she talking to her?I walked towards her.As I got nearer to them I could hear there conversation.More like Veronica talking shit and she was listening it.

"Hey!"I said standing beside her.I placed my right hand on her waist."Hey."She replied.I looked at Veronica and she was shooting daggers to Alaina.

"You Bitch! He is mine!"She screamed and lifted her hand to slap Alaina.I caught her arm before she could hurt her.I looked down at Alaina had her eyes were squeezed shut.

I shifted my eyes to Veronica and she was looking confused and anger."Why are you defending her?"She shrieked.

"First:If you touch her I won't hesitate to hit a girl and Second:I am not your boyfriend so stay away from me and especially her."I said in dangerously calm voice.

"What do you see In her anyways?She is Just a stupid Bitch who can't even defend herself and gets beaten up by random strangers.Oh yes I know and half of the school too."She scoffed.I clenched my Jaw trying to hold back from hitting her.

Anger was boiling inside me.How dare she talk to her like that!Alaina interwind our hands.I looked at Alaina and her eyes were red from crying.She somehow noticed my anger and was trying to calm me down.

My anger was suddenly disappearing just by looking at her face.She tightened her grip around my hand, which made me calmed down.

"Veronica Go!"I said angrily.She scowled at Alaina and left towards her next class.

"Adam Calm down!"Alaina said.I didn't say anything and dragged her outside the school.I tightened my grip around her hair."Adam you are hurting me!"She cried.

I immediately let go of her hand and turned around to face her."I am sorry."I apologised.
"why did you drag me out here?"She asked.

We were in the clearing behind the school.I often come here during school just to get away from Veronica and also to clear my thoughts.

This is were I have spotted her few times.She sit's here sometime reading a book or staring at the sky deep in thought.

"Come on."I said and pointed towards the tree.She nodded and followed me.

We sat there in silence watching the view in front of us.Neither of us said anything until Al broke the silence."Are you okay now?"She asked."I should ask you that."I shook my head staring at her side face."I am okay,really!I never pay attention to them.They are just a phase."She said calmly.

"What?"She asked.I Realised she caught me staring so I avert my gaze."Nothing!"I casually said.

She sighed and lay down on grass.I Copied her actions.Our arms brushed and I felt her tensing up.I could say the same about me.

"Why did you do that to her?"She asked quietly.She shifted her body and now was looking directly at me."Because she was being a bitch to you."I huffed facing her.

"Nothing I haven't heard before."She whispered to herself."What was that?"I asked.

"Nothing!"She shrugged.

I scooted a little closer to her and put my arm around her shoulder.She snuggled her head into my chest.And believe it or not My heart literally stopped.

We stayed there for almost an hour.Having her in my arms was the best feeling ever.
