Even if I didn't want to deal with what was happening to me or what I've done, I didn't have to be alone.
(~’'’~)
Even with Niki and Techno's comforting words, Diane sort of detached from the group. Sure, she was in the hospital but it wasn't the same.
Instead of staying in the cafeteria to somewhat keep an eye on everybody, she stayed in one of the hospital rooms.
Everybody else grew to respect that, Tommy resisted it at first. He didn't like how he never saw what she did but only the result of it and barely too because Wilbur and Phil ended up shielding it from him as well.
Ranboo also didn't like it. He guessed why she wanted to be alone but he didn't think it would help anybody. He didn't want to leave her alone with her own thoughts because he didn't know if they were… bad ones.
Tubbo, he respected it. From the pain he saw in her eyes from just seeing him being held at gunpoint to the rage she built up toward the woman and her friends being displayed as clear as the glasses she wore. He was the one that had to stop her from taking a life only for her to take it less than a minute later to defend him.
Diane was on her bed, facing the window away from the door. The blood coming from her ears was residue from the storm that stopped almost three minutes ago. She had her legs up on the bed as she hugged them. Her head was resting on her knees while she didn't really hear footsteps coming to her door until he made himself known.
"Yo." Diane turned around to see Ranboo giving a small wave.
She turned back and put her head down to look out the window again.
"Hey." He made a mock offended tone and sat down on her opposite side. "No snide remark? No witty comeback? Not even a grunt or something?" He had his hands in his pockets and was moving side to side as he talked.
His mouth tugged a corner for a second before sighing and bringing a leg onto the bed.
"Look, I… came to check on you so I did bring some Q-tips and water for your ears." He brought them up to his face as Diane glanced at him. She hesitated but ended up turning her whole body around to criss crossed her legs and faced him.
Ranboo felt pride in his chest but quickly put it to the side as he poured some water into the cap and dipped the cotton tip into it.
Diane slightly turned her head for him and he brushed her hair behind her ear to show the mildly wet blood very slowly dripping down the side of her face.
He winced. "That's gotta hurt. Thankfully, I got a lot more than needed."
It ended up taking almost three minutes just for one ear but he did try to make small talk with her even if she didn't feel like talking.
"You know, we had to hold Tommy back a lot from coming up here. He really wants to see you." He waited for a second to see if Diane would have a reaction and all she did was slightly furrow her eyebrows.
"But, we did stop him. You obviously wanted some alone time so-"
"What about you?" He stopped and looked at her face only to see it not even facing him. "You just came up here to help a mur-"
She was about to continue but shut her mouth which made Ranboo skeptical but somewhat knew what she was gonna say.
"Diane, I… you only did what was best for us."
"Yeah lemme guess, the wrong thing for the right reason. I've been thinking about it and it's just freaking dumb and useless to justify it." She scrunched up her nose in frustration and tried to stay in the same position for Ranboo but found it hard when she didn't want to be near anybody with the fear rumbling in her gut.
