So... Valerie probably has one of the most screwed-up/convoluted lives of all my OCs. Not only is she the most powerful Mesmer in existence, she's also a frickin' powerful froster. She was created by the Neverseen as a counter to the Moonlark, but ends up on the other side... of course. She has one of the crappiest lives ever. Mom dead, dad's mind shattered, people think she's a freak, etc.

I love her because she's got so much emotional baggage that she bottles up to protect her brother. She's scared of her own feelings because she doesn't want to hurt anyone. At the start of the series, there's only three people she cares about - Wylie, Grady, and Edaline. I love the progression of her accepting her powers, her making friends, her learning what and who she is.

She was a very interesting character to write. The concept of Project Balefire was one of my favorites. I love the sheer terrifying scale of her power and I couldn't resist making her Grady's biological daughter. 🙃

My favorite part with her was probably when she's interacting with Grady. I love they're relationship and that he's one of the only people that believes in her. He's so supportive and loving. He acts like her dad even before he knew that he actually is. 🥺 He's is my favorite adult in this series.

My favorite part to write was either her being tortured by Gren or her attacking the others as Bella. 😈 it's just so gruesome and cool. I love showing the dark side of people's abilities. Especially Valerie's since she's so powerful. Seriously, I had WAY too much fun making her almost kill the others. And even then, I'm not sure we reached the limit of Valerie's power.

I actually have a "fun" idea for a story that could potentially go all the way and show her using her abilities without restraint and just wrecking everyone. 😈😈 (If you know about the "Injustice" storyline from DC, it'd be kind of like that.)
