Forgotten Daughter series

Confession time: what initially sparked my interest in the Percy Jackson universe was that garbage fire of a PJO movie... 😐 Now, before you all kill me, I hadn't read the books at the time so I didn't know how bad it was. I understand now how much it... SUCKS!!!!!!

So...  now that that's out of the way, as all my Forgotten Daughter fans know. Aliana, or Ali, is a Daughter of Artemis. She arrived at camp when she was Seven and was unclaimed for ten years. Yada, yada, yada, there's a whole bunch of other hellhound dung I put her through. 😅

Artemis has always been my favorite Olympian and Percy Jackson just grew my love for her. 😍😍😍

Ali is one of the longest standing characters that I have and I've been able to explore her personality, flaws, trauma, and everything that makes her HER. I have absolutely LOVED writing her story and I'm afraid that I'll have to end it with War Mantel. Like Percy and the Seven, her time as the main hero is coming to a close and it's time to let new characters take the spotlight.

This makes me incredibly sad, but I also have some amazing characters to follow as well. So, it's only fitting that I start this story as hers comes to a close.

*takes a moment to mourn the end of an era*

Now, let's start with what I love about Ali's character. Not only is she an amazing fighter with insane skill with almost every weapon, she's more than just the "tough girl", whose only job/goal is to kick butt. She has so many layers. The outside is her hard shell to protect herself. Then we have her loyalty. Once she befriends someone she would do anything for them. (Even go to Tartarus) She cares so deeply for people, but she doesn't like to show it. She has trust issues, but, those she does trust, she trusts with everything she has. And, at her center, is her father and his death - the root of everything inside her. That moment is what made her.

Ali is like an onion. (Please tell me you guys understand that reference.😅)

I also adore her relationship with Percy. The way they go from her thinking he's crazy to him being the person she trusts the most. 🥺 Their interactions were some of my favorites to write. It was a time for me to write Ali being her true self - being comfortable in her own skin for once.

I loved writing the different ways she interacted with different people - that she could go from hard and distant with people like Clarisse to open and friendly with Percy and Annabeth.

The development of her from being this hardened warrior to the real Ali is honestly one of the most satisfying things I've ever written. Also, her growth as a leader. 🥰

Also, her frickin' power!!! I honestly don't remember how I came up with it or why I thought it made sense, but I love it SO much and I'm SO glad I got the chance to expand on it and its origin with Tyler!!!

My favorite moment with her is probably... agh it's so hard to choose... there are so many amazing moments... maybe... when she faced Zeus, in An Audience with the Olympians, and she just calls him out and dares him to kill her. Just... *chef's kiss* It shows how angry she is at the gods and how much she misses Mason. Also, when she confronts Artemis about not claiming her. 😍😍

The part I had the most fun writing, and this is gonna sound so bad, was definitely when she was in the Labyrinth. Specifically, when she was attacked by the giant spider automaton. 😅 It was just such a cool idea and... such a painful way to hurt her. 😈😈

Due to my prior confession, Ali was originally an OC for the movie 😬, but I've had SO much more fun integrating her into the real Percy Jackson story.
