Chapter 16

Ben was snoring away while Ruby was up beside him trying to wake him up.

"Ben. Ben, get up. We have school" Ruby had been trying to walk Ben up for the last 10 minutes but the guy just wasn't moving.

Ben hasn't moved from his bed since he found out his mum went into hospital. She wasn't even supposed to be having the baby yet but she hemorrhaged. Ben was worried of course but he hated the hospital for whatever reason. So he never went there.

Ruby shook him again but still no answer and that's when Ruby started to panic "omg is he dead?" She muttered to herself before shaking her head "obviously hes not dead Ruby you fucking idiot. He's snoring very loudly" she said to herself again.

"Ben, you need to get up" Ruby shook again only to earn a groan off the boy "let me sleep"

Ruby took out her phone to text Eric about an update on Jean.

Ruby- any updates? How is she? How's the baby?

Eric- she's fine. And the baby is too. Otis has just went in to see her. Ben?

Ruby- still ain't budging. I feel like shit because we decided to have fucking sex while Otis tried to call. If I had just told Ben we should wait then we wouldn't be in this situation right now.

Eric- Ruby, babes. Its not your fault. We are young horny teenagers, we are going to be like this. It was a shock for Jean to have the baby, but things happen for a reason. Don't blame yourself.

Ruby- Thanks, Eric. Keep me updated.

Eric- will do.

Ruby looked back over at Ben and sighed. She moved back on the bed and lay her head on his chest "I'm sorry" she whispered softly. "Its not your fault" she heard a voice above her say which made her sit up and look at him.

"If I had just said I wasn't sure then this wouldn't of happened. Obviously I was sure yesterday that I wanted to have sex with you and I don't regret it. But-"

"Ruby either way I wouldn't of been going to that hospital. I hate it there. I can't step foot in a hospital because it scares me" Ruby looked at the boy with a frown "why does it scare you?" Ben looked down and started to play with his fingers. "Because people die there. My grandad died there when I was 7 and he was like my bestfriend. So since then I haven't stepped foot in a hospital." Ruby leaned in and hugged the boy knowing he needed it.

As soon as they're bodies connected in the hug Ben broke down. "What if she dies too? I can't deal with that. It kills me too because I've barely talked to my mum in so long because I'm too busy living a typical teenage boys life. But I can't lose her, Ruby. I can't" Ben sobbed into Ruby's shoulder "I know you can't. You won't, I promise. I promise your not going to lose her." Ruby rubbed his back up to his head.

"I can't lose her." Ruby rubbed the back of his head Tears now forming in her eyes. This is how she felt when she found out her dad had MS and Ben was the one there for her.

Ben and Ruby heard the door open down stairs which made Ben leap out of the bed and out of the room.

He reached the bottom of the stairs to only Find Mrs. Groff and Aimee with goat in the house.

"Oh. hi, Mrs.Groff, Aimee, Goat." Ben greeted  "Oh. Hello, Ben. Im just here to pick up a few things for your mum." Mrs.Groff spotted Ruby coming down the stairs too fixing her hair. "Sorry if I interrupted something" she apologised but Ben was quick to shake his head. "No, don't be silly. Ruby stayed over last night to keep me some company. I don't like going hospitals so." Mrs.Groff caught on quickly "Oh, right. Sorry dear" Ben just gave her a weak smile.
