Chapter 18

"Eric, Ruby can be really frustrating when it comes to something she likes or wants. I mean, then again she will say its fine and that she doesn't want anything and then when that day comes around she will be like 'of course you didn't get me anything. You don't ever get me anything' its confusing, you know?" Ben stated to his friend.

"Its sounds confusing just listening to it" Eric blinked while Ben nodded "what do I get a girl for Christmas?" Eric shrugged "just get her something she loves. Ooh, get her some male stippers. Thats what I'd want anyway" Eric smirked. Ben shook his head and screwed his face up in disgust "I'm not getting my girlfriend male strippers..."

"She'd kill me" Eric let out a laugh "I'd also kill them for even going near her" another laugh fell from Eric's lips "please, you couldn't even kill a spider nevermind a, hot, sexy, fit-" "okay, okay. I get it"

"Look, you've known Ruby your whole life. Go back and think about the small things that she likes and put it all together" Ben smiled at the thought. He had originally thought about that but it sounded stupid in his head so he dissed the thought. Hearing the thought come from Eric made him realise it wasn't actually so bad if someone else thought the same too.

"Yeah, I will. Thanks" Eric and Ben walked into the Milburn household seeing Ben's mum feeding Joy.

Ben walked over planting a light kiss on his mother's forehead before going over to his little sister "How's my favourite little girl" he bent down so he was eye level with Joy and pretended to take her nose "oh, I've got your nose" Ben pretended to throw the fake nose behind him then gasped "where'd it go? Its gone" Joy reached out grabbing out at Ben's nose and putting her hand back to her face.

"You- You have my nose now" Ben shook his head and pretended to cry "my nose is gone" he cried with his head in his hands. Joy put her hand over Ben's hand and pulled it way from his face. Ben looked at her and stopped crying and smiled instead making a goofy face making his little sister laugh. Ben kissed Joy on the cheek before standing up and him Eric went up stairs to Otis.

Ben was lying in bed looking up at the ceiling trying to think of the small things Ruby she mentioned over the years that she liked.

His thoughts were interrupted when his phone started to ring from the bed side table.

"Hello?"

"Hey"

Ben smiled right away at the voice on the other end of the phone.

"I missed you"

"You live like 10 minutes away. Whats stopping you from coming over?"

"I actually don't know. Helping my mum with Joy maybe?" Ben shrugged although Ruby couldn't see him.

"I think we both know that your mum and joy are sleeping right now and Otis is there in case Joy wakes up"

There was a few seconds of silence.

"So do you want me to come over?"

"If you want to..." Ruby started to trial off while Ben got up still listening while he got dressed.

"Like I do miss you too and Anwar and Olivia are complete bores and won't rewatch mean girls with me" Ben stopped his actions.
