Chapter 21

"So, you're sure you're pregnant?" Ruby nods "and your positive you want to keep it?" Ruby nods again. Ben really didn't know what to say, he had tried to be comforting but he wasn't really the expert at it.

"You don't have to stick around. I can have this baby on my own and you can just leave, I won't blame you" Ben looked at his girlfriend confused "why would I leave you?" He asked.

Ruby looked down as she began to play with her fingers. "I'm pregnant and am keeping the baby. I didn't exactly give you a choice or say in it either and have just thrown all this on top of you so quick" she answered but Ben wasn't one to run away. He wouldn't.

"Rubes, whilst I'd liked if you came to me sooner about this I can't change it. It's your body. You're the one who's going to be carrying it around for the next 9 months or so. But I'm not going to leave you, I'm a little freaked out but that's only because of the shock I'm feeling, but Rubes I'd be a terrible boyfriend if I left you after I'm the one who impregnated you" he told her truthfully.

"Ruby, I love you and there's nothing that will get in the way of that. Not even this. I know our plans for starting a family weren't really until another few years ahead but I love you that much to start one right now. If that's what you want" Tears streamed down Ruby's cheeks again.

She honestly don't think she deserves Ben. The way she had treated him in the past when this is how he's always been towards her. Nothing but love and caring and he was showing that everyday even by showing up at her door everyday there past week when she didn't want to see him and leaving calls and texts even though she wouldn't answer them.

He never stopped.

"So, what you're saying is...that you love me enough to want to start a family right now and you're not going to leave?" Ben nodded in confirmation. "I promise this is what I want as long as you want it. I'll get a job to provide for you both. Look for a place to stay for the three of us as a family. I can do it if you want. Just say the word" Now Ruby really didn't know what it was that made her deserve this boy that wasn't even a boy in her eyes anymore.

No, he was a man.

Ruby nodded, wanting those things with Ben. "I-I could try telling my mom and she could help us out" Ruby suggested but Ben nodded his head "and I'll be there with you a-and if you want, now this is if you only want but I could try speaking to my mom about it and therefore we have two parents helping us out" Ruby had to think for a moment.

Jean welcomed her in with open arms and already treated her as if she was part of their family. It was no secret that Jean loved the girl and Ben even joked a few times about his mom loving Ruby more than him. So really telling Jean wouldn't be such a bad idea and could be good for them both.

Ruby looked back at Ben who stood there patiently looking at his girlfriend "you don't have to give a straight answer right now, you can take as long as you want to think about it" Ruby shook her head "no, I think it would probably be best we tell your mum".

Ben searched Ruby's eyes for any kind of hints that she didn't want to do this but it was hard to try find anything other than fear in them.

"Are you sure? We don't have to tell anyone yet Ruby. We can take our time, you can take your time. I really don't mind, it's whatever you're comfortable with" he asked the girl again looking her right in the eyes with his soft expression.

"I'm sure. It'll make me feel a bit at ease knowing your mother knows" Ben nodded as he took Ruby's hand and they left his room descending the stairs.

They got to the bottom step and seen Jean Milburn sitting on the couch after just putting Joy into her cot. The woman felt a presence behind her causing her turn around and smile as she seen Ben and Ruby.

"Hello, darling. Hello, Ruby" Ruby gave a slight but nervous wave with a small smile. Jean took in her sons posture and expressions as she did with Ruby. She could tell the two seemed scared and a bit nervous as they approached her.

"What's the matter, darling?" Ben looked to Ruby who gave him a nod. "Uh, mum...Ruby, erm...Ruby is—Ruby is pregnant...and she's keeping the baby" Jeans eyes widened slightly as she took in the new information.

"We didn't mean for it to happen. We have been completely safe throughout it all" Ruby said quickly. Jean nodded "and you're deciding to keep it?" Ruby nodded "I don't think I can just abort this baby. I had a jump-scare before but i want to keep this baby" she told the woman.

"I understand if you don't want anything to do with this and you don't want Ben to have a part in this either—" Jean waved her hand as she shook her head "nonsense, whatever it is you need I will help you both out. You are too a part of this family Ruby and your problems are our problems too" Ruby smiled softly as quiet thank you to the Milburn woman.

"Mum, we'd also appreciate if you could just keep it between us three for the time being. We are going to talk to Ruby's parents about it eventually but it would be nice if you just kept it within us" Jean nodded understanding.

"Well, we're gonna head back up. Maybe get some sleep it's been um..." Jean waved her hand understandably "of course, her some rest the both of you" Ruby smiled softly at the woman before they both made their way back up stairs.

"Feel any better?" Ruby looked to her boyfriend and smiled "much better. Thank you" Ben smiled and nodded "of course".

"I love you"

Okay I know it's reallyyyyy short but I'm ready to write for season 4 and let me tell you I'm really fucking excited with how I can make this storyline work.
