Isaac POV*
I looked up suddenly, surprised to see Lukas standing in front of me. I was not sure what to say, but he waited for me
"Wha- what are you doing here?" I said, a smile forming. He shrugged. "I just wanted to see you, I guess.." he smiled.
I could feel my face turn red but pushed it away. "Why?" I continued. "I just wanted to get out of my house." He said softly.
"Why did something happen?" I asked, a little concerned. "No, not really.." he said looking away. "I was just bored." I nodded "Okay,"
He leaned onto the counter, moving closer to me. "So what are you looking at?" He asked gesturing to the book in front of me.
"My mom's old recipe book." I smiled softly. He kept staring at me for a while as if he was trying to ask something he was afraid to.
"She's... gone now.." I said. He nodded. "I'm sorry..." he said awkwardly
I closed the book. "It's okay," I put the book back where I found it and turned my attention back to Lukas.
"So you sure you don't need anything," I asked again as I leaned onto the counter. He looked around smirking. "Is there anything you made?"
I leaned back slightly, laughing. "Well, not.. yet," I say back softly as I look away slightly. "...yet?" He asked back.
I turned back to him smiling. "My dad is finally going to let me help around here, including making the stock." I smiled proudly. "That's amazing!" He smiled.
I kept looking at him shyly. "That does mean I'm gonna need a tour of the forest if I'm gonna collect everything myself..." I said. I didn't want to bother him, but he was the best person to help me with this.
He laughed, "of course," he said happily. "When did you want to start with that?" He smirked as he leaned even closer. "Well, I- uh-"
"Isaac, where did you leave the oh?" My dad interrupted as he stopped at the door to the front of the store "I didn't know there was a customer." He said as he walked in completely.
"Sorry to be disappointed, but I don't need anything," Lukas said as he stood back up, turning to my dad.
"Oh, it's you?" My dad asked surprised before turning back to me. "What are you looking for?" I asked as he walked up to me.
"I was just wondering if you had seen my book, I forgot the last ingredient to something." He said sounding slightly ashamed.
"Well, I don't know where that is, but I found something else." I turned back to the counter grabbed the book I just found and handed it to him.
"Where did you-" he asked confused. "It was right here beneath the counter. " He kept staring at it, I could see the emotion in his eyes. "Well, this might work.." he smiled. He cleared his throat and looked at Lukas and me.
"So if you're not here for anything, why are you here?" My dad asked, looking at Lukas. He shrugged. "I guess si just needed some company." He smiled sadly.
"What about at home, your parents?" He continued. "Well they're... not home..." he said again. My dad stared at him for a bit.
"Well if that's the case.. why don't you stay for dinner?" He suggested. I looked over from my dad to Lukas, staring at him in anticipation. For some reason I wanted him to say yes.
He stared at us, not sure what to say. Until he finally agreed. "Ok, why not." I couldn't hold back my smile.
"Well okay, then I guess I'll go prepare everything." My dad said before going back to his workstation.
I watched until he disappeared behind the door and then turned to Lukas. We looked at each other before bursting into laughter.

For some reason, the rest of the day got even less busy, not a lot of people came by the store again. So I closed up a little earlier than normal and Lukas and I went back towards the living area.
I took a seat on the couch, and Lukas sat across from me. "I'm sorry about the mess, I'm still cleaning up from my gathering session earlier," My dad said as he took his bags off the couch.
"It's fine." Lukas smiled back as my dad walked around the room for a bit, putting away more of his stuff. It got awkwardly quiet as we both watched him pace around the room until he finally sat down with us.
"So, Lukas. I'm curious." He started, he looked at him confused. "About?" He asked. "Well, you- I've let you into my house, a couple of times now. And I know next to nothing about you." He smiled as he leaned back in his seat.
Lukas looked over at me, confused. I just and we both turned back to my father. "Well uh- what do you want to know?" Lukas asked reluctantly as he sat up straight. "So, where do you live?" My dad started."I've lived in this town all my life but I've never seen you around..?"
Lukas let out a small laugh, "I live pretty far into the forest." He answered, looking down. "Oh, I see... why' that." My dad continued. I don't know what, but when my dad asked that question I could see Lukas's face, and he looked really sad. But he quickly tried to hide it, thinking neither of us saw, but I did.
"I- well I guess they just really liked the spot.." he said trying to sound happy. He looked at my dad waiting for him to continue.
My dad kept asking him questions for a while. More about him, and his family. I tried to interfere because I could see it was doing something to him, but I didn't know what to even do or say. So I joined the conversation, at least trying to change the subject every once in a while.
After dinner, Lukas and I went up to my room. Since we ate so late my Dad suggested he'd stay the night, and unlike last time, he agreed. I excused us away from my dad -to avoid even more interrogation from him- by saying we had to get the room ready.
As we walked into my room I took a seat on my bed, and Lukas followed after me. He closed the door behind him, leaning against it. He then let out a long sigh. "Are you okay?" I asked carefully. He smiled, looking at me. "Yeah, it's just been a while since-" he stopped, that painful look on his face again. "Since, what?"
He shook his head. "It's nothing.." he said as we walked up to me, taking a seat next to me. "Thank you.." he smiled. "For what?" I asked a little confused. "I know what you tried to do back there."
I turned my head away from him, "I don't know what you mean.." I said, getting slightly embarrassed. I heard Lukas laugh and I slowly turned to face him again.
I kept staring at him as our eyes locked. He looked at me a little confused, a soft smile on his face. I never noticed he was so hot. Wait- what? I could feel my face burn up as I thought that. Did I just think that? What is-
"Hey, are you okay?" Suddenly he reached out to touch my face. Pulling me out of my thoughts. I flinched and he pulled his hand back slightly. "I uh-" I tried but I didn't know what to say. "I'm fine!" I laughed.
"Are you sure? Your face is red." He said as he tried to reach out again, I quickly got up. "Yup! Fine! I'll uh- ill get some extra- uh- pillows." I laughed awkwardly as I walked back towards the door. Lukas smiled awkwardly back at me as I hit the wall. I turned around quickly and went out, racing my way to the hallway.
I leaned against the wall letting out a long sigh. I run my hands over my face, laughing to myself. What the hell was that thought?
