Isaac POV*
When I woke up the next morning, the room was brighter than ever. The upcoming sun hit the windows at the perfect angle, making the room look like it was on fire. Now you could really see how much dust it had gathered over the years. And how many papers were actually on the ground? I thought we got them all but I guess we overlooked them.
I pushed myself up from the bed. Which was a little harder than usual for some reason. I look down tiredly, and suddenly what happened yesterday came back to me. I instantly felt awake and my face turned bright red.
I awkwardly looked around the room, to see where my clothes had ended up and quickly get dressed. That made me feel a little better. I stood at the foot of the bed and looked over to Lukas, who was still- well...
I felt my face burn up again and quickly looked away, turning around and quickly walking over to the table in the middle of the room. I leaned my hands on it and took a deep breath. I can't believe that happened. It wasn't a dream this time. I had the back pain to remind me.
Suddenly I heard a rustle from behind. I looked over my shoulder and noticed Lukas was waking up as well. I wat he'd as he reluctantly turned around and looked at the ceiling. "Is it morning already?" He complained as he tried to rub the sleep from his eyes.
I let out a laugh and turned around slightly. "Is the mattress that comfortable?" I asked. He stretched as he let out a long sigh. "You have no idea.?" He laughed. I smiled awkwardly, feeling a little intimidated by the fact that he was still naked.
He sat up and seemed to be a bit more awake. 'Have you been awake long?" He asked, I shook my head. "Not really, I just woke up myself." I shrugged. "Okay, I mean, because you're already fully dressed." He smirked. I leaned against the table again, letting out an awkward laugh. "It was a little uncomfortable..." I admitted.
He smiled as he turned around, hanging his feet off the bed. "Understandable." He got up and grabbed his clothes. Well most of them, he didn't put his shirt back on, for obvious reasons.
He walked around the room, frowning as he looked at the mess that was still there. "We still have a lot to do, huh?" He sighed as he picked up some papers from the floor. "I thought we were close to being done."
He walked around, pushing the dust off of the tables and shelves before stopping to look at the windows. "Maybe if we opened them it would help with some of the dust." He said, more to himself than to me.
"Do they even open?" I asked as I made my way over to him. He stood up and tried his best to push it open. "Guess no-" nut just then they gave in and with a loud bang the window opened. Lukas caught himself on the wall, almost falling over at the sudden moment.
A cloud of dust fell from the now open window and covered both of us making me cough. "They do!" Lukas said happily. "They just needed a little help." He smiled proudly, his arms by his side. I couldn't help but laugh at how proud he looked.
"Now that just leaves the other five" he wiped his hands on his pants and looked over the room. "Well, good luck with that." I laughed. He turned around confused. "You're not gonna help me?"
"I was planning on going home.." I said looking at him. He kept staring at me confused. "Oh, I see." He eventually. "Yeah... I don't want to worry my dad," I explained "and id like some clean clothes..." I added.
"I thought you told him you were with Ava?" He argued as he made his way back to the bed. "I did, but I should still go ho e every once in a while, even if I am at Ava's..." I said back. He nodded understandably and picked up the rest of his clothes. "You want me to walk you home?" He asked.
I shook my head. "No, I can find my way," I laughed. Not gonna lie, I was still feeling incredibly awkward after last night. Not that it wasn't fun... it was. It was really-
It was just that I have trouble looking him in the eyes mow. That was my first time doing something like... that, and I'm not sure how to react.
"Okay, then I guess ill be cleaning up on my own" he smiled as he finished putting on his shirt. I smiled and watched as he walked towards the door. "I'll be back tonight, I'm sure. I just want some new clothes is all." I explained as I followed him. He stopped and held the door open for me, but he stopped me before I could walk through.
"You better." He smirked as he kept his hand on my chest, I looked up smiling and before I could react he suddenly kissed me. I froze, but it was over before I knew it. I felt my face turn bright red. He let out a loud laugh and walked away from the door, leaving me there. I took a deep breath and followed him back to the rest.
I made my way through the empty walls alone until I got to the front of the church. Lukas had already entered and was now standing In the middle of the room, turned towards a person. I walk next to him and followed his gaze. In front of us was a man. At first, I didn't quite recognize him but as I looked closer I realized it was Marc.
"What is-" Lukas started. "Tadah!" Aubrey shot up from behind him. "Don't you recognize him?" She said happily, Lukas looked at her confused, "it's Marc!" She yelled proudly. Lukas shook his head disapprovingly. "Is this your idea of a disguise," he sighed as he walked the due from them. "All you did is shave his beard and gave him a haircut." He said, stopping in front of his sister.
I followed him and stopped next to him. "So, you did recognize him..." Aubrey asked a little disappointed, "of course I did, he looks the same." He agreed back. Why do these two always end up fighting,
"Well, to us he does," I said before they could start yelling again, they all turned to me confused, "we've seen him a lot these last couple of days, but the people I. The village only got a glimpse of him..." I explained.
"So you think it'll work?" Aubrey asked, bright-eyed. "Well, yeah?" I said back. Lukas looked between us in disbelief. "You think they should go out? I thought you were on my side," he said.
"If anything I'm on Marc's side," I said back, "it's not good for anyone to stay inside all day, you know that better than any of us..." I said back, turning to him completely. I could see he was about to say something back but Marc stopped him.
"Okay- let's not fight over this, I think Aubrey did a good job, and I'm willing to try it," he said, trying to lighten the mood, "but what if you get recognized-" Lukas started. "As soon as I have even the slightest idea someone does, ill go straight back here, do t worry." He reassured him.
Lukas took a deep breath and tried to agree once and for all. "Okay, you're right," he said calmly. "You did a great job," he turned to his sister, "it did take me a moment to realize who I was looking at." He admitted.
Aubrey's face lit up and she pulled Lukas into a hug. As they pulled apart she smiled at him happily. "Thanks,"
We stood there in silence for a bit before I broke it, "right, I'm off then," I said awkwardly, I needed a minute alone...
"You're leaving?" Marc asked. "Yeah, just for today," I said back as I made my way to the door. Marc nodded. "I'm gonna go back to bed." Lukas yawned, earning Aubrey's attention. "What do you mean, bed?" She asked suspiciously. "Also why are you not wearing a shirt?" Uh oh-.
"Uh, well- I mean-" he stuttered as he looked at me for help. "Oh no, this one's your problem" I smiled as I opened the door behind me. He looked at me, pretending to be shocked before I walked through and closed the door behind me again.
