Chapter 26: Realizations

A/N: We all knew it was coming. *Kanye Shrug*

Jesy's POV

"You know the funniest thing happened today. Jade and Perrie called me and told me to ask you to come home. I don't regret it though.", my mom chuckles as we work in her garden. "I heard their whole little plan. I thought it was cute so I just went with it. Leigh and I both heard it actually.", I say smiling. "Out of all you lot, I didn't expect you and Leigh-Anne to start dating. All four of you had chemistry but I guess everyone was so focused on, what's it called? Jerrie, that Lesy just popped up in our faces.", she says. Leigh and I talked it over and decided to tell our families that we're dating because she didn't want to explain her depression to her family, and mine was getting curious as to why I kept canceling on things.

I get a phone call and smile at the sight of Leigh's name. "Speak of the lady. I'll be right back.", I say answering it as I step inside. "Hey, everything alright?", I question. "They're sort of smothering me. I know they mean well but it's a bit suffocating.", she answers. "I'll call Jade and talk to her. But is everything else ok?", I ask. "Oh yeah I'm fine. I got some nachos, I'm upstairs in our room watching some tv, just chilling.", she answers. "And have you been sticking to the schedule?", I question. "Yes I have. I need a refill on my antipsychotics.", she answers moving around. "I'll call it in when I get the chance. So everything is good?", I ask. "More or less so. I'm ok, the house isn't in flames, the boys are out getting dinner.", she answers.

"Alright I'm gonna go back to helping in the garden now. I love you and I'll text you when I'm about to go to bed.", I say. "I love you too and I'll text you when I wake up.", she says hanging up. I push my phone back into my pocket and walk outside. "Was that Leigh?", she questions. "Yeah.", I answer. "You two are just the cutest. But we're pretty much done so let's head inside. I told Jade that you'd be back so she's gonna bring the kids over.", my mom says. "I'll go get washed up then. If my phone rings it's probably Leigh, so tell her I'll call her back.", I say pulling off the gloves I was wearing. "Will do lover girl.", she teases.

I shake my head and take a quick shower before changing into some joggers and a hoodie. The change in weather was always crazy. When we first moved to California, we had the air conditioner cranked up as high as it could go. Except Leigh, she still slept underneath blankets and didn't break a sweat. I don't know how that girl does it. Maybe her low iron because she always said something about being cold all the time. Which is quite ironic if you think about it. She's always so warm which makes for the perfect cuddle. I love cuddling her, it's like a warm hug from all sides. I love being around her in general honestly. All in all, I love her.

The dopey smile drops off my face when I realize what I just thought. I love her like a best friend. A best friend that I wouldn't mind taking strolls with, and going on dates with. A best friend who's body is a temple that I worship every time I see her. A best friend who I struggle not to make out with whenever I see her. "Shit, I'm in love with Leigh-Anne.", I say out loud. "You're dating, so I'd hope so.", Jade says as she walks in the door. "Auntie Jesy!", the kids cheer. I get distracted from my inner turmoil when I feel their little bodies collide with my legs. I'm in love with my best friend.

Leigh's POV

I was drawing things in my sketchbook as I always do when I look down to it and see a fully colored picture of Jesy. I smile at the sight of it and finish the detail on her hair. After finishing it, I turn the page only to see another drawing of her. I flip through pages and see multiple drawings and notes made for her. "When did I do all of this?", I question to myself. I stop on one of the notes and start reading it. "Jesy, I don't know how to say this but I love you. And I know you might be thinking I mean I love you as a best friend but I haven't loved you as a best friend for a while now. Every night when we fall asleep, holding each other, the gazes we share, the "I love you's", the sweet nothings you whisper, the hugs I surprise you with. All of that has shown me that I love you, not just as a best friend, but as the lover I want you to be.", I read.
