Ok, I am so ticked off about this topic. I'm not sure if this is a part of the story to make things sadder and more interesting, or the designers are simply just too lazy to make the parents so they sent them off to Jesus land.
So if there are parents, it's either his/her lover's dead or he/she doesn't get along with his/her child.
But, in some occasions, both the parents are still alive. But guess what? They have no idea that their children are now on a magical adventure on the other side of town, defeating whatever it is, damn hell.
Tell me, I dare you, an animé that doesn't have that certain character who experiences this.
Heck, sometimes, it's just more than one character whose parents are dead.
This trait is in a damn plethora.
Sometimes, it's just so abundant that when they reveal their parents' status, I just don't feel sorry anymore. The creepy part is, my 'I-no-longer-care-if-your-parents-are-dead-it-happens-to-everyone' habit will occasionally haunt me in real life. Whenever a person announces that someone died I'm like, "Meh." (￣.￣)
And that is cold-hearted shit right there because I know that I'm suppose to sympathize for that dude.
Don't even make me start with a list because it will be daaamn longer than the Sakura list.
Not sure, but there's a chance that it might even be longer than Sebastian's hooha. Idk, tho. That shit's long.

Back to the parent thing.
Hey, dude, you're alive. Could you at least check if your son isn't being killed by someone right now?!
Of course, there are times when the parents exists but not really. You know, like, it is said that they are still alive and show support to their kids through various way but they are never showed in the animé, not even once!
Damn, maybe it's a part of the animé commandments.
Thou must not have parents.

If thy parents are alive, thou must not tell them you are a magical girl.
