Alright this is a small story that happened to me just this day.
See that hand with Sebastian's mark? That's mine. No, it's not a tattoo and no, I'm not Illuminati. Just a henna and it's just my way of expressing my enthusiasm for Kuroshitsuji. The black nails are just for design lol
In case you're confused, his symbol in the animé is different from the manga. In the series, it has less details but in the manga itself, the symbol is almost identical to mine.
Okay, remember when I said that I got really busy? Well, I've finally got time to rest so I decided to go to a nearby famous bridge to get fresh air. I wore an all-black outfit (because black is my life). While walking around, this cute guy just suddenly said, "Excuse me."
I thought I was in his way so I scooted over and continued walking. He then chased me yelling "Wait!" and that's when I realized he was asking something.
Before I could ask, he said in an adorable manner, "Do you watch Black Butler?"
I was really shocked at first. There aren't many otakus where I came from and yet a 9-year old boy knew about it.
Although it's a but inappropriate for his age, it doesn't matter since I couldn't do anything about it.
So I cracked a smile and answered, "Yes. It's my favorite."
Before I could interview him, the little boy was called by his older sister and ran away.
But it wasn't the end yet.
Later on, I went at a restaurant to eat dinner and I met him again. There weren't any seats available but his family offered one to me. They were really kind and guess what? They're a family of otakus.
So I enjoyed talking to them as a fellow otaku and had a great time. Here's one of the funniest parts of our conversation.
Boy: So which Black Butler character do you like best?
Me: One does not simply have one favorite character. I'm being torn between Sebastian and Grell.
Boy: Ohh...my favorite is Ciel. He's really cool.
Me: (In my thoughts: Oh my god does this mean he saw the corset scene?!) Yeah, he's cool.
Boy: But I don't like Alois.
Me: Why not? Is it because he's bad?
Boy: No not that. I don't like his shorts. He's gay.
Rest of the family: *Giggles*
Me: Well, yeah. He does wear booty shorts. (In my thoughts: Does this mean he also saw that confusing scene with Angela and Pluto?!)
Boy: Grell is acceptable for actually being gay because he's awesome.
Me: You have good tastes, kid. You're gonna be a great otaku someday. (In my thoughts: DOES THIS MEAN HE ALSO SAW THAT FUCKING SCENE WITH SEBASTIAN AND THAT NUN?!)
So we had a further discussion about Black Butler which later led to SNK.
Boy: Captain Levi is my favorite!
Me: He's amazing. Mikasa is mine, though.
Boy: But Annie is stupid. I don't like her.
Me: Umm... (Secretly an Annie fan here) yeah...
Boy: But why is Eren always screaming, though? Is that what Germans do in their country?
Me: *Almosts chokes on food* Hahaha you're so adorable.
Older sister: The second season will be released next year. And I've heard they're making a live action series.
Me: Yeah, I've heard of it. Armin's hair there, though. *Pouts*
Boy: I can imagine an asian version of Eren still screaming.
-----------
After a heated discussion about animé, I finally left and went back to the hotel. I'm currently writing this right after the experience.
I am happy to know that the love for animé is still in good hands. Maybe, just maybe, I still have faith in humanity.
I have met one of the members of the future generation of otakus. I hope 3D animation won't take over like in Pretty Rhythm.
I have met a proof, people. We will not die out. We will continue to live in this world along with the next generations as otakus. Nothing will stop that.
Just sharing my experience.
