It had been close to 4 years since Uncle Edward died but he remained forever in the hearts of the Carlson and Whyte families.
He died to save them and that was the least he deserved but Jayla understood it was time for Aunt Mia to move on.
Losing a dad was sure not easy and she couldn't possibly imagine what'll become of her life without her dad. He was her everything and she understood Carrie's pain.
But continually living in the past will only result in a life of pain, depression and frustration. And it wasn't worth it.
Aunt Mia deserved another chance at love and happiness and Carrie would have to understand that.

The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) was fast approaching and she couldn't be more overwhelmed.
She received lots of success postcards from her family, Chloe, Myles and Elijah. She was so grateful for their love.

Chloe wasn't studying Neuroscience in a pre-med program and so went on to complete her Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience.

The night before the exam.
There was a knock on her door. It opened gently.
Chloe's head popped out first and then Carrie's.
"You have a package ."
"This late?" Jayla questioned flustered. The girls walked in.
She unwrapped the parcel to find a package of her favourite shrimp Alfredo and a bowl of delicious Boston Cream Pie.
She didn't need a cert in rocket science to know who the parcel was from.

There was a success card at the base of the box. It read:

You've finally reached a make-and-break point in your career. I know how much this means to you but no need to worry because you're the smartest person I know. Even the hardest exam will be the easiest task for you. I just know you'll ace this test. Congratulations already.

With all my love,
Knight xoxo.

"Oooohhh" Carrie eyed Jayla teasingly.
"With all my love.... knight.... xoxo.... that's so cute." Carrie wrapped her arms around her body smiling like a child in a candy shop.
"That's it. Time's up girls."
"Not without a taste of that delicious cream pie." Chloe opined
"And the shrimp Alfredo, please ." Carrie was quick to add.
"What will I do with you two?" Jayla mused and the girls laughed.

After an hour of munching and catching up on each other's lives, Carrie and Chloe offered to pray with their friend as she faced an important obstacle in her career path the next day.

There's no greater gift that any friend could give but prayer. Jayla was thankful for the godly friends God blessed her with. As the two left for the rooms with a parting good night, Jayla resumed her books to complete her revision quickly and have enough rest.

Kaiden sighed as he received the confirmatory text. The parcel was delivered. Jayla had received it. He wondered how she was doing.
Was she nervous? Did she feel prepared? How was she coping with the stress? Was she overworking herself? Was she taking care of herself?

'Urghhhhhh. Just call her.'

After several tries,
'She's probably asleep. Who even calls at this time of the night Kaiden? You're so dumb. *Sigh* This was a bad idea."
He smacked himself.

The MCAT was a computer-based standardized test consisting of four sections:
1. Biological and Biochemical foundations of living systems
2. Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological systems.
3. Psychological, social and biological foundations of behaviour
4. Critical Analysis and Reasoning skills.

The MCAT had a total seating time of 7 hours and 30 minutes but allowed breaks and check-ins.

Kaiden drove over to the airport. Whitney was arriving from Ethiopia.
She decided to channel all the funds she inherited into the Dender children's home she set up in Ethiopia. That, Kaiden found, was very noble.

He decided to support the cause with social service funds from his firm Commerce Xpress. He also managed to link her up with his many European friends who could be potential sponsors.

"Hey. How was your trip?" He greeted her once she got in.
"Simply splendid. The home has been expanded to cater for double our current population."
"Well, that's some good news."
" Thank you so much for all your support Kay."
"Don't mention it."

************ After the exam **************
Jayla spotted Nick at a distance.
She was so excited to have completed the MCAT, she longed for someone to share her joy with.
In the spur of the moment, she screamed and raced towards Nick and bear-hugged him, almost knocking him off his feet.

The doors to the Range Rover Sport parked right behind them opened and her dad and mum popped out. She hadn't noticed the car before.
It was then that it dawned on her the inappropriateness of her actions.

She got off Nick slowly mortified while her parents looked on completely mystified.

Well, this is awkward.
