She turned and was totally captivated by the man who stood before her.

He stood a foot taller than her. His dark black hair was styled flawlessly. It was side parted with curly ends. She was enchanted by his beautiful face, it was neatly chisel shaven.
He had dark black eyes; the most gorgeous she had ever seen. He was just... striking; quintessential.
God... what a masterpiece!

The creep looked pretty much intimidated by his presence.
"Beat it." He said calmly but with authority and the creep literally ran out of the place.
She stared at him nervously, not knowing what to say.
There was a pause and then he seemed irritated.
"Thank you would not be out of place."
"erm... tha-
Ignoring her stuttered response, he walked away.

No no
This was certainly no way to make a lasting first impression. She chased after him.
"Wait!... Wait. I'm sorry. I mean thank you."
"Jayla." She extended a hand.
"Kaiden Torres" He ignored her extended hand and walked away.
So much for saying thank you. She sighed

That was one heck of a ride for a first day in college.

Later that night, her sister called
"Hey"
"Jael... am I glad to hear from you." She answered
"How's it going?"
"It's been a crazy day but I guess the subsequent days will be better." She confessed
"Sure it would."
"How's everyone back at home?"
"We're all doing great. Dad's getting better too."
"Thank God" Jayla was genuinely relieved.
"Myles says hi." Jael informed
"Oh hi Myles."
"Okay. Gotta go. Got lots of stuff to do."
"You sure do." Jayla chuckled and continued.
Jael ignored the remark.
"Tell mum and dad that I love them."
"Will do. Stay safe."
"Love you."

Jael was her twin and was older by 40 minutes. A fact Jael was never letting go off. She liked to remind everyone of that.
Jayla totally hated being the 'child' of the house.

The twin sisters are pretty close now after the hurricane of events of the previous years.

Jael's a bit of an introvert and has a very small inner circle. She lives with their parents in Austin and pursues Forensic Studies in the University of Texas. Myles, her boyfriend, also studies there.

It's been barely a month since Jayla moved to Boston but she was already homesick.

*. *. *. *. *. *. *.
'Today's a new day. I hope we'll do something more productive rather than sit through some lame orientation session all day.' Jayla thought aloud as she made her hair into a scarfed updo.

Thankfully, classes began today.
She had an Experimental Biology class in lab 4 but there was a slight problem- she didn't know where the labs were to begin with. She must have zoned out at that part of their orientation. She lurked around and bumped into someone.
"Oh I'm sorry." He apologized
"I should apologize." She remarked sincerely apologetic. He flashed her a warm smile. She smiled back.

He was a bespectacled guy. He had blond hair and a beautiful pair of blue eyes. He was dressed causally. One could tell from a mile away that he was a good lad.
"Hi. I'm Bryson."
"Jayla."
"Nice name."
She could only smile.
"Can you please help me locate lab 4" She requested.
"Your luck. I'm headed that way."

They made their way to lab 4 in time.

Phew.... she certainly didn't want to be late for her first class.
She picked the empty front row seat and Bryson joined her in front.
She pulled out a notepad and a pen just in case she had to put down something. There were a fair number of people in the room.

Ensuring that she had everything set, she bowed her head in prayer, she wanted to begin this 4 year long journey with God, that way she'll be sure of good success.
Just as she lifted her head, her eyes met his - Kaiden.

He confidently strode past her to the back of the class and as he passed by, she couldn't help but inhale the sweet scent of his exotic cologne. It was an intriguing mix of floral, woody and even spicy scents which was totally captivating.

Clad in a simple shirt with sleeves rolled up over some slacks, he took a seat at the far back.

The professor walked in a few minutes later and the lesson began. They were going to run through the basic pre-med courses which included Biochemistry for about a full semester and a half and then the main coursework begins.

They started off with some basic theories and procedures.

Jayla, concentrate...
