Chapter 46

"I know Jael... I just feel like I'm in this maze and I can't see the way out."
"Take it to the Lord in prayer. Myles and I will pray with you."
"Thanks so much, Jael. I love you."
"Love you too."
"By the way, did you know Kaiden founded Pink&Blue?"
"Yep. How did you not know?"
"Oh my goodness. You knew too. And I made him out to be some monster needing a ray of goodness in his life meanwhile he was far ahead of me. I'm a horrible person."
"No, you're not. Life's teaching you something very important, you only need to open your eyes to it. There's still a lot you need to know about Kaiden. Trust me, I like Eli a lot but after I got to know Kaiden I don't see a better team. Besides, he likes you a whole lot."

After my long chat with my twin, I decided to text the girls. There was a lot we needed to catch up on.

I left a message for Eli informing him I'll be staying back a day in Boston.

8:00 pm
I picked a black halter knee-length dress and picked up my coat as the doorbell rang. My Afro was tied up with twisted bangs.

Quite the punctual one.

"Hey."
"Hey."
"You look beautiful." Kaiden complimented her.
"You cleaned up nice yourself."

We headed down to Kaiden's silver Bentley Bentayga
"Can't believe you got rid of the Austin Martin."
Jayla folded her arms across her chest with unconcealed displeasure.
"Nope. Didn't sell it. It's in my garage right now. Still holding you on to that drive you promised."
"Only if I can also take this wonder for a drive too." She put on a cocky smile.
"Your wish is my command, petal." He did a slight bow and Jayla giggled.

**********Back in Austin***********
Aunt Mia is inviting her boyfriend over for dinner. Carrie refused to attend but decided against it. She wanted to see what kind of guy her mum wanted to replace her dad with.
Marvin remained neutral. He didn't want to be involved in the banter between his mum and sister. He did love his dad but he understood that his mum had to move on too. It's been five years! But he dare not voice out his thoughts to his sister.

Carrie was the closest to his dad and he understood her pain and frustration too.

They were seated when the doorbell rang. Mum got the door and he walked in. They were so not expecting this.

"Uncle Xavier! You?! I can't believe this. How could you do this to my dad?! How could you do this to your friend?!!!" Carrie runs upstairs to her room in tears. Aunt Mia runs after her.

Marvin was in shock but was secretly thankful. He knew Uncle Xavier. He's been a father to them since their dad died. He frequented the house and was always making sure they were okay. He is a good man and Marvin trusted him to take good care of his mother.

Xavier Ruis is a Spanish millionaire. He is a member of the Verga League and is Jeremy Carlson's best pal. He's known the Carlsons as long as he can remember and he has always had a thing for the Carlson millionaire heiress Mia Carlson Whyte but she never looked his way.
He was like a big brother to her and she never looked at him that way.
Years later, she fell head over heels for this cop and though he broke her heart and Xavier thought she was a free woman once again, she loved him so much that she forgave him.
Before he knew he had lost his childhood crush and love. She got married.
A year after she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. And a couple of years after, a boy.

She was happy and so Xavier was happy. He never got married. Guess he never found the right person. None could measure up to the distinguished lawyer Mia Carlson Whyte.

But after the death of her husband, Mia surprisingly drew closer and closer to him and here we are today.

The two took a seat and were served shortly after their order was placed.

Kaiden started small talk as they ate and before they knew it they were chatting like old buddies, filling each other in on the other's life in the past two years.

But as the dishes were cleared and they sipped their drinks, Jayla knew, the elephant in the room was soon to be addressed.

Kaiden reached for her hand across the table.
"Petal... I've made so many mistakes in my life. Countless. A lot I do regret to this day. But nothing breaks me more than my mistake of letting you go.

Suddenly, Nick rushed out from the shadows.
"I'm sorry Miss but we have to go now. Code red!"
