Josilyn POV:-:-:-:
One week later
"How many times do I have to say it? I'm sorry, okay. But it was an accident."
"I'm serious."
"Stop, it Dasha. Listen to me! It was an honest mistake, okay? I'm sorry." He argued into the phone.
I sighed, trying my best to block him out. The doctor looked to me. I just shrugged.
"Healthy baby girl as promised, Mrs. Tomlinson," she spoke as the familiar heartbeat filled the room. I smiled.
Louis blew out a breath, "Thanks doc. Can we get that printed?"
"Sure," she said, "I'll just be a moment."
She left from the room.
"No, I wasn't talking to you."
"Yes."
"What does Jo have to do with this?"
I grabbed a few paper towels and cleaned off my stomach, helping myself sit up afterward.
"DaSha, don't cry. Why are you crying?" He turned around and whispered into the phone.
I waited.
I waited.
"Louis, I need help."
"Look, I understand you wanted me there but don't change this into something it wasn't."
I huffed and scooted to the edge of the bed. I hopped slightly off the bed and my sandals landed with a slap on the marble. Louis whipped around, "Careful, Jo! Get me next time."
I pursed my lips, but didn't reply.
"We should go out and do something," I suggested once we were back in the car and on the road. "We haven't been out in a long time and I think it'd-"
He nodded, barely hearing me, and gave me the finger.
I stared at his finger for a moment, wondering if this was real life. Then, I let it go and looked out the window.
"Later. I'll see if I can later."
"No, I can't right now, DaSha. I still have things to do."
"When have I ever - no, it's for Bri."
"Well you're going to have to. I've never lied to you."
--
"Can you please get off your phone?" I broke at the bottom of the stairs to the building.
"I will, just-"
"No! For Christ's sake Louis, we're here for Bri. Get off your phone!"
My heart beat hammered in my chest.
His eyes widened slightly and he lowered his phone as he assessed me, "Calm down, baby, okay, I can hang up. I'm sorry. Calm down."
He cautiously put it back to his ear while looking at me, "I need to go now DaSh-"
I opened my mouth to say something else, but then stopped myself. I finished climbing the stairs and opened the door to the waiting room.
"What do you mean?" I heard from behind me.
"You'll see." I heard from in front of me.
Deep down I think I knew before I stepped foot in the room. But, even when I looked up and froze in the doorway, even more anger washed completely over me.
