Josilyn POV
:-:-:-:
The sweet sound of Brianna's giggles fills the air around me, mixing with the slight whistle of wind blowing around. I had a small smile stretched across my face as I watched Niall push Bri on the baby swing.
We were in a park full of other children, but her screams had to be the loudest and her grin was definitely the brightest. Without releasing my eyes from them, I scooped up a plastic spoonful of the slightly melting ice cream into my mouth, moaning at the tasty vanilla flavoring with gummy bears and caramel drizzled on top.
I dug my toes into the green grass beneath me as I looked around at my surroundings. Everyone looked so happy, the weather was beautiful, the sun was setting, and joy filled the air.
I haven't felt so relaxed in so long.
There were so many families here. Fathers were playing with their sons and mothers were catching their daughters at the end of the slide. Guilt settled into my stomach.
My gaze looks up and over towards Niall at the sound of whining. I notice him not swinging Bri anymore, but now pulling her out of the swing. She clings to his side as he walks over to me, an etch of worry on his face.
He sits next to me on the grass, allowing Brianna to sit in between us. She instantly looks down and begins plucking grass from the ground.
"Are you okay?"
I chuckle, "I'm fine, Niall." I set the now empty cup of ice cream onto the grass, "This is nice. This is very nice."
"I'm glad you're enjoying it. I want you to enjoy it. How do you feel?" He asks skeptically, "Any better?"
"Well yeah, I mean today has been perfect. The weather is great, you took us to the park, we got ice cream, and the salon treatment was nice too. It was all too sweet."
"But?" He urges.
"But I.." I struggle for the right words of what I'm trying to figure out myself.
"But what? Do you miss him like crazy yet?"
"What's that supposed to be mean?" I can't help how offended I sound. What's he saying? That I'm clingy?
"It means neither one of you have changed. After all this time, you're still so into each other like before. Neither one of you can go a day without each other."
"Yes I can. I could go a week long without him if I wanted."
"A week?" He chuckles, "Sure. But, you don't want to."
"What do you know Niall?" I playfully shove him away.
"I know that you didn't deny it," A knowing smile shows on his face, "And that Louis is, with no doubt, going to kill me when we get home."
"Yeah," I agree.
"Literally kill me."
"Yup," I nod.
"Maybe I should sleep somewhere other than the house tonight."
"That'd be a good idea."
"I would make reservations now if my phone wasn't left at the house," he says.
"I wonder how long it took him to realize both our phones are there before he stopped with calling, texting, and leaving voicemails. I bet our phones are blown up," I speak and he chuckles.
