Josilyn POV

[yeah you'll probably have to reread the last chapter as a refresher. I'm sorry, I love you guys!]

•••••••

My fingers were numb.

That small detail didn't seem to matter much as I continued to scrub the counters of the kitchen free of scum and stains that weren't there.

The floor had been swept, tables wiped, and dishes loaded. The kitchen was pristine clean. My earbuds were in, blocking out everything—more specifically any thoughts about her.

I jumped out of my skin, screaming when I turned around to see Carter standing in the doorway when I sensed movement. Then I felt a hand on my shoulder and whipped around readying to hit something. In a matter of seconds, I watched as Louis tripped over his own feet, slipping onto his back.

He closed his eyes and dropped his head onto the floor in exhaustion as I yanked my earbuds out and dropped to my knees. "What the hell are you doing?"

"What are you doing?" He groaned out.

"I'm cleaning! I just mopped."

"Yeah I see that, Josie! You're supposed to be getting dressed."

I chewed on the inside of my lip and grabbed his hand, helping him stand up off the ground. "Are you okay?"

Carter had ventured from the doorway into the living room.

"Why aren't you dressed, Jo? I told you I told her 4 o'clock."

I averted my eyes away from his and went back to scrubbing the counters, "Because I'm not going."

He appeared at my chest, trapping me by putting a hand on the counter right in front of me.

"Oh yes you are."

"No, I'm not."

"Danggit Jo, you said you would."

"I changed my mind."

"You've changed your mind 3 times. And that's okay. I've changed the date for this 3 times. And that's okay, Jo, but I'm not changing it a 4th. She's due in 12 weeks. Baby, I want this to happen before she goes into labor."

I didn't respond to that and before I could completely move away, he'd grabbed my hands, making me look directly at him. "Jo."

"I can't, okay? I can't."

"You can't keep doing this." He stared at me. "If it's my baby, what then?"

"You can't make me love her."

He huffed out, "You know that's not my intention."

"Then let me put it this way," I licked my lips, feeling myself starting to get worked up. "You can't make me not hate her."

Louis let go of my hands to grip the clean counter. He looked down at his shoes, a look of pure defeat on his face.

"I don't want to see her. I can't. If I get anywhere near her, I'm.. I'm.."
