"Why is there a lost child here?"
———(M/N) was doing domestic chores while wearing an apron. Mostly cooking for Kaeya and Venti as a celebration for their hard work while he was gone. Kazuha was roaming through the rather small house. He was busy looking at portraits and pictures while (M/N) prepared the vegetables and pan fried the chicken.
"Why do you have such a tall doorway?" Kazuha mused.
"Have you not seen my height? I need it." (M/N) laughed before stirring the pot again.
"That is true I guess. Who else lives here aside from the knight?" Kazuha asked.
"A bard. Sometimes my edgelord of a cat swings by and a wolf boy. Sometimes Lumine and Paimon. Those are some of the people you'll meet. We're planning on selling this place soon because we have the teapot now."
"You're surrounded by interesting people, quite impressive. You're body is free to meet all these people and time is always on your side." Kazuha praised.
"True! Could you be a dear and set the table... it should be for four or five?"
"Very well, are you sure you're able to house all of us?"
Kazuha got an answer as he walked back in, he saw (M/N) leaning on the counter with his eyes closed, listening to the sound of fire burning the wood. His face concentrating by the crinkles forming by his eyes. It was quiet with the food silently steaming away. Kazuha could recall all the rumours his clan recounted about (M/N). He was a man of undying loyalty, he was the ride the die. A rumour like that seemed fitting but other more negative rumours circulated.
A lost being, who was beyond useless. Dendro was considered a useless element which (M/N) wielded. He was considered equally useless. It didn't help he lost most of his power from his battles years ago but Kazuha still looked up to him. Despite not wielding the Anemo Vision that represented freedom, (M/N) had a special place in his heart.
A strong man who may be stupid and rude but if he trusted you then he would give his all for you. He was unbelievably kind and sacrificing even if it would cost a life. A hand touching his shoulder caught his thoughts. The table was set up without Kazuha's help. A kind gesture. Kazuha ate with (M/N) that day since the other occupants would not return home soon. He wondered if it was alright to let the food go cold. There was no option on the run but now it felt depressing.
"I don't see an issue, cold food can be reheated! I made it with love so it should still shine through."
Kazuha was going to melt at the toothy grin. Luckily he didn't. Instead, he collected himself before he asked where he would be sleeping. It would be great to sleep on a bed but there clearly wasn't enough.
"I can bring out the mattresses, Venti still likes to sleep with me though. You're welcomed too but you should know that you might get a cramp."
Kazuha helped set up their mattress with the covering while (M/N) rummaged for some clothes. There was one problem when Kazuha changed, it was massive. The shorts were too big despite being the smallest size and the shirt fell off his figure. He should have taken into account how blessed (M/N)'s body was. He borrowed the other person's clothes instead after consultation.
A complete riot.
That was the mess when he stepped out the bathroom again and overheard (M/N)'s wifely greeting at the door. Even his welcome home seemed like so cute. Maybe, he should become the Love God instead of the Sex God. The two people that returned were peculiar but everyone had a unique look around here. He never announced how annoyed he was at the taller tanned roommate for groping (M/N)'s backside.
It was brief and it may be a greeting those two share but that wasn't a look a roommate would give, that was a lovesick man. He thought the shorter one with braids would be better but he was even worse. He clung onto (M/N) childishly as he offered alcohol. Desperately trying to whine for attention as (M/N) carried him in one arm.
"Come on you two, Kazoo over here is going to get lonely." (M/N) introduced.
Kazuha could tell that he wasn't going to get along with these two.
After sitting down at the table that barely fit all of them, he watched as (M/N) stood by the doorway of their dining room. He was chatting merrily to the knight called Kaeya. It seemed that Kaeya's eyes were glued solely to him just like the bard's. Venti would insist on the presence of wine which (M/N) actually took out for the occasion. A cup of pure red liquid with a thick consistency was poured.
When he lifted the glass and swirled it, he tasted that it was quite bitter but there was a note a sweetness. Praiseworthy. He wondered why (M/N) refused to drink but the knight answered in his stead. A smug look that felt like he was showing off.
"(M/N) prefers not to drink, he can get alcohol poisoning easily. If he did want some then he can take it from my lips."
"I could but I'd rather have my own cup if I did."
Venti stayed quiet which was a contrast to the attitude that Kazuha had been told until he broke out into a tune. The food was finished by the end and Venti was dragging (M/N) to the living room to dance despite the mattress in the centre. It was endearing to see (M/N) humour and help the stumbling twirling drunk Venti into bed.
"Darling, can you come into my room? We need to chat." Kaeya spoke to (M/N).
Darling?
(M/N) really wasn't taken right?
Kazuha didn't care about it but seeing (M/N) head into Kaeya's room that night made him queasy. He let himself drift off with the last thing he saw was (M/N) coming out to give him more pillows.
