Lexa

"Keep your eyes closed."

I did what she wanted and kept my eyes closed. "And why is that? I cannot see what you're doing" I smiled.

Her fingers attempted to weave through my hair. It didn't feel like she was doing the braid correct but I didn't say anything to deter her. She sat behind me with her legs on either side of me. "Because" she mumbled focused. My smile grew and I lightly massaged her ankles with my thumbs.

Freya huffed, her fingers stilling then untangling the strands of my hair she was working with. "Freya, I can show you" I said slightly amused.

"No no I want to figure it out" she said. "I watch you do this every morning. You make it look so easy" she added cutely.

As I tried to turn to see her she grabbed the sides of my head and turned it for me to face straight ahead again. She hummed gathering three new strands of my hair. This time she started weaving them together a little tighter. "Hold this" she directed. I blindly reached back and she put the braid in my hand. She started a second one and tried to connect it to the first. "Ughhh" she groaned hanging her arms over my shoulders and leaned her head against the back of mine. "I give up, how do you do this?" she asked quietly.

"Can I open my eyes now?" I smirked.

"Yeah" she said moving to sit on her legs. I turned to face her and folded a leg under myself and stretched the other out.

She stared at me with a small frown and her hands on her knees. "These aren't that bad. You just need to keep the braid tight as you do it then it's over and under alternating the three pieces" I told her. I gathered three strands from the side of my head and demonstrated slower.

Freya took three strands of her own hair from the side of her head and tried to follow along. She bit her lip in focus. "How's this?" she asked with a tiny smile.

"It's good" I said feeling the braid between my fingers. "This would hold much better if you were in a fight."

"Okay" her smile turned to a grin. "Let me try again" she stood up on her knees. I repositioned so she could see the back of my head. She settled back into her position sitting behind me. "Well?" she pushed lightly, her fingers undoing the loose braids in my hair she did before.

"What?" I asked. She leaned over may back and took my arms to set my hands on her legs. "Oh" I chuckled rubbing my hands from her shins down to her ankles again.

My eyes snapped open on alert. Automatically I pulled my wrist away from the hand that tapped me. "It's just me. We're here" Clarke said and nodded her head towards the window. After, she got out of the machine.

I stared at what I saw from the window. Destruction. It was all in rubble. Steeling myself I reached for the door handle and stepped out. The ash and rock crunched under my feet. I turned in a circle looking around at my city. The walls, the market, the stables all gone.

Holding my hand over the bandage on my chest I walked towards the tower. I let out a shaky breath looking at my home. It was only three floors high now. And completely filled in by rubble from floors above. "There's no way we'll get to the bunker" Clarke said hanging her head low.

I snapped out of my shock and rushed to the tower. At the door I threw smaller rocks from the crevices trying to dig in. "Ahh" I grit my teeth as I wedged my fingers between the rocks. The pain was nothing compared to what Freya must be feeling. Tears slipped down my face the more I thought about how she must be feeling.
