Lexa
This time when I stepped into our old bedroom the walls were the same grey metal as one of her previous memories. Freya was walking around the edge of the room slowly with her arms crossed over her chest. I followed her eye line to the left side of the room. She was watching her younger self slip around in a pool of blood. In this memory she looked to be around Aden's age when he was training under me.
I met her near the wall where she settled to watch the rest of the memory. Taking a moment I leaned in front of her eyes but she only stared through me. Sighing I stepped to the side and watched the memory unfold.
By the time Freya had got to her knees to move over to the injured man I noticed the blood dripping off her cheek. She pressed her palms against the wounds on his abdomen but the blood oozed between her fingers. "Hey" she tried to shake him. When he didn't move she started to get more panicked, "Hey -hey wake up." Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes as she took her hand away from the wound to slap his face. "Wake up" she said with a twinge of anger in her voice.
The door creaked open and Freya tensed. Her father -Charlie walked into the room. When he looked at the scene in front of him he showed no surprise.
"Father" Freya looked over her shoulder at the man. She was slightly relieved it was him and not someone who you think she did this to the man. Charlie scratched at his chin and carefully avoided the blood pool while he walked to the side of the room. He walked directly pass Freya and I but obviously didn't react. "Help me, what am I suppose to do?" she asked her voice cracking. Then she cleared her throat to ask, "Do we tell the guards so they can call for medical?"
Charlie huffed, squatting and looking closer at the man for half a second. Then he slapped her hands away harshly. "If you are going to kill someone you do not call for the guards" he said annoyed with her.
"What? No, I didn't-"
"Either way this man is dead. Probably was before you even entered the room" he said.
Freya tried to stop her shaking by clenching her fists against her folded legs. She was still sitting in the pool of blood. Her clothes were soaked in a dark red. "How do you know?" she asked her father.
His expression suddenly burned with rage. He swung his large hand and slapped her across the face. She was thrown mostly out of the puddle and now left red smears on the clean floor. "Haven't I worked the stupid questions out of your brain, Child?" he shouted. Immediately afterwards he kicked her in the side.
An angry growl left my throat and I was stepping forward before properly processing what I was seeing. I wanted to stop what was happening to her. I wanted to go back in time and get rid of her father before he could completely bring her down. Out of no where a hand shot forward to grab my arm. I whipped around to see Freya holding me back from trying to interfere with the memory. "Freya, you can see me?" I gasped.
"For thirteen years I've raised you for a purpose. One purpose! And this is how you want to ruin all that planning" I heard Charlie seethe in the memory behind me. Quickly, I looked over my shoulder to see Freya curled into a ball while holding her side. He stood over her with his fists clenched.
The hand on my arm slid down to hold my hand. "I know you've been here. I've been ignoring you" Freya said neutrally.
I frowned trying to read the emotion in her eyes. But I couldn't see past the exhaustion and sadness. "But why? I'm here for you, Hodnes" I said swallowing past the lump in my throat.
Freya's neutral expression faltered. She started blinking fast and took her eyes away from me. "Because I know you're not really here" she whispered.
