Lexa
"Heda, if you will come with me now" Gaia said standing behind Andi at the table. As I turned to meet her eye she bowed her head respectfully. The gesture was one I hadn't see in some time. Sliding the now empty bowl away I stood up from my seat.
At the sound of my chair scraping against the floor Andi whirled around in hers. "Where are you going?" she asked looking up at Gaia.
The flamekeeper looked back with a soft smile. "I'm afraid not, young one" she told her.
Andi scowled and crossed her arms, "Fine I didn't wanna come anyways."
"Stay around Aden tonight" she shook her head amused. The girl grumbled under her breath and turned back around in her chair. "This way" Gaia waved me towards the door with her.
At the door way Bekka stopped us. "I'll meet you there in a minute wait for me" she said to the flamekeeper. Then she turned back into the large room to speak with someone at a nearby table.
Most of the clans people are still socializing at their tables. The halls were empty as Gaia and I moved through them. "Where are we going, Gaia?" I asked after a second. My hope is that it is finally the time to receive the flame. Even though Bekka wasn't sure it would work it was still the only way I knew to attempt to reach Freya.
"I am taking you to the flame" she answered. We turned down another familiar hall seemingly moving towards that locked door. "I assume Bekka has already voiced her opinion to you on whether or not the two flames will link?" she questioned.
I answered shortly, "she has." Finally I was going to reunite with my hodnes and my nerves were starting to spike.
Gaia hummed while she thought to herself for a second. "Freya was a good leader to our people. She kept the belief in commanders and your memory alive. It is my hope that this is successful" she continued.
Sighing I tried to release the stress in my shoulders. A smile threatened to form on my lips at the thought. She made quite the impression on people in the bunker. "She was smart to choose you as her flamkeeper" I said.
"She helped me and now I think you are the only one who can help her" Gaia sighed shaking her head. She stopped outside the locked door to punch in the code. I thought about what she said while walking down the stairs. We didn't speak any further. We passed by Freya's room and the room I saw Bekka enter until we stopped at the end of the hall.
Gaia held the door open for me. Stepping into the room I noticed it was the same size as freya's room. The bed was pushed to the right side of the room with the desk on the opposite wall. On top of the desk was a makeshift alter. Mainly it was objects from the tower including a tin of face paint, a dagger and two small candles that were at the ends of their wicks.
Standing to the side I watched Gaia retrieve the ceremonial tin the flame is to be kept in between commanders. Just as she slid the lid back to reveal the flame Bekka entered the room. "Good, you haven't started yet" she nodded seeing the flame was still in the tin. "The flame will function the way you remember. What we need is for it to sync to the flame 3.0. You will need to meditate in order to attempt to active the sync. Look for something that shouldn't be there to know if it's been successful, I'll be waiting for you" she explained to me.
"I understand" I told her.
The flamekeeper nodded once towards Bekka then took the dagger from her alter. "Heda" Gaia motioned to the bed. It looked like it hadn't been slept on in months. Still I slowly lowered myself onto it. This was the moment I had been waiting on for over eight years. If the flames didn't link together this could be the end the hope I have left.
