"You gotta be faster than that if you want to catch up to me blasty boy." Shoto teased, running on the trail through the forest during their training session. Shoto was in the front, keeping and easy pace ahead of Katsuki who refused to be second.
"I told you not to call me that." He growled, finally catching up and matching the same pace as Shoto. Katsuki didn't understand how he was already so powerful- he hadn't won once against him in their practice matches. Was this really the result of all that training with his father?
"I like it though." Shoto replied, he wasn't even out of breath. It was ridiculous.
"Call me by my name if you're so insistent." Katsuki grumbled, hating admitting defeat but not liking the nickname he was given. It was bad enough that stupid Deku still called him by the nickname he had as a kid.
"Hm, no. I think I won't. How about Kats? Oh I like that." Shoto said, trying to push Katsuki's buttons. How far could he push him until he snapped? He liked when Katsuki got all fiery. It excited him.
"Absolutely not."
"It's settled then Kats." Shoto laughed, and ran farther ahead, letting the air rush into his lungs with each step. His gifted quirk bloomed with it.
Katsuki cursed behind him and Shoto smirked. This was going far better than he could have imagined. Shoto reveled in the feeling of success- he took a right into the woods off the path, jumping once he was out of Katsuki's eyes sight and steadying himself on a branch in one of the trees.
He gazed at the ground below waiting for Katsuki to appear. Shoto knew he would.
And despite himself, Katsuki followed. Searching.
They had been running for twenty minutes but even so Shoto was crushing him.
Katsuki ran after Shoto, like he'd let him get away from him after boasting so much. He'd probably hidden to catch his breath because he was tired. Although Katsuki knew it wasn't true, he smiled at the thought.
His eyes scanned the woods around him, looking for him but he didn't see anything. It wasn't exactly and open area but the guy would have been a little hard to miss. Katsuki scoffed. So Shoto really was hiding.
"I'm going to leave without you!" Katsuki yelled, turning to leave. He knew it'd be enough to get Shoto to show himself- it always seemed like Shoto wanted to be with him, not that Katsuki minded. He liked the company. Shoto's company. Only his.
It was weird. He'd thought he'd be more annoyed but he wasn't.
Suddenly something landed in front of him... or rather some one. It was Shoto and he was close to Katsuki, his body only a foot away from Katsuki's.
"Hi." Shoto said, looking at his hands. There were scratches on them and pieces of dirt but Shoto didn't seem to mind. Katsuki blinked.
"Where the hell were you?" he asked.
"Were you worried I'd gotten lost?" Shoto teased, moving closer to Katsuki who, in turn, stepped away. Shoto smirked, he licked his lips suddenly very aware of how alone they were even though they had been alone together all day. Somehow this felt different. More secluded in the trees.
"No." Katsuki said shortly, looking around.
"Aw, that hurts." Shoto pouted but he wasn't able to keep a straight face for long. "I was up there." he laughed, pointed to a branch above them. Katsuki narrowed his eyes.
