It happened so fast Katsuki didn't have time to counter as his legs were kicked out from underneath him. His back slammed into the ground, knocking the breath from his lungs. He groaned at the impact.
Too quickly, Shoto was on top of him, arm across Katsuki's chest and legs pinning his down. Both of their breaths came out hard and fast with their exertion. He shut his eyes in frustration. Katsuki slammed his fists on the ground.
For the past week they had trained together after school for four hours.
Four hours and Katsuki hadn't beaten him once. Shoto was insane and Katsuki couldn't comprehend how he was overpowering him so much.
His frustration grew every single time he was thrown to the ground and pinned. He would have been dead ten times over if Shoto was a villain.
Even without quirks Katsuki was taken down within ten minutes. He didn't want to think about how quickly he had been taken down with quirks.
A moment later Shoto rolled off of him and onto his back next to the blonde.
He hadn't trained this intensely and long in years. Sure, he obviously kept in shape but he hadn't needed many hours long training sessions. It wasn't good for him anyway and he remembered why that week.
His enhancer quirk was rapidly needing to adjust to the strain. To the excessive use of his body's senses. That was why he had lowered the intensity of his training sessions- the enhancer almost always overwhelmed him.
And today today was the worst it had been all week. His quirk seemed almost fed up with all Shoto's training and was more sensitive than is had been in years.
Each day he was another step closer to succumbing to it and being taken over by its intensity.
There was something unsettling, to Shoto, about being able to feel the oxygen rush into his lungs. Not the relief of being able to breath but the actual molecules trying to find the right place to be in so he could breath.
But he swallowed the pain of his quirk's oversensitivity because he owed it to Katsuki. He needed to make it up to him.
"Again?" Shoto asked, gritting his teeth against the feeling each muscle fiber move as he did. It wasn't particularly painful but rather incredibly uncomfortable.
Katsuki let out a breath, sat up and nodded. "Yeah."
Shoto held back a groan; instead he sat up and said, "okay." He pushed himself up onto his feet, his jaw clenched as his clothes were far too rough against his skin. Shoto rolled his shoulders back- he would be fine. It was for Katsuki.
"No quirks again?" he asked, though felt slightly bad. He couldn't turn off the enhancer he had tried. If he could, gods knew he would.
"Yeah." Katsuki answered, stretching out his limbs. He was dead focused on training which was good because Shoto was struggling to hide his sensitivity. And it would be a pain to try and explain.
Shoto wasn't sure he'd be able to last thirty more minutes. But he would have to- he had to make it up to Katsuki. Suck it up, he told himself. Katsuki was worth it.
