The door was right in front of him but instead of knocking, Katsuki paced in front of it, too anxious to do anything else. It was just over a year ago when he had been a horrible person to Izuku and yet the guy was so willing to help him. To talk to him about what he needed to talk about, even if Katsuki hadn't decided just how exactly he was going to talk about it yet. Izuku was being patient with him.

It was pathetic, he thought, to not only need the help of someone he used to fucking bully but want the help of him. At some point the little shit had become his friend again and Katsuki couldn't find it in himself to be angry about it. There was comfort in the sentiment.

Izuku was always so free of harsh judgment that talking to him became as easy as talking to Shoto.

He was comfortable with Izuku for a reason he was sure had to do with their past and for (probably) the same reason, he trusted Izuku. It should have infuriated him but it didn't.

And yet, he still couldn't bring himself to knock on the door. Certainly he looked like an idiot, standing on the porch of his friends house that he hadn't actually talked to in any serious way since well, ever.

Katsuki had been an idiot as a kid, and he recognized that whole-heartedly. He was an ass and the kind of person that never should be forgiven and yet Izuku hadn't ever needed to forgive him. Izuku never asked for any of it but Katsuki knew he had to. It would be impossible to talking to him about how he felt while knowing that he didn't deserve it at all.

Even if Izuku didn't necessarily care about an apology, Katsuki was determined to give him one.

If only he could just knock on the gods damned door.

Just as Katsuki was considering turning around and going home, his phone buzzed in his pocket. Hope fluttered in his chest before he was forced to remember that it wasn't going to be Shoto. Because Shoto didn't talk to him anymore.

Shoto barely looks in his direction. So he crushed the hope before it could bloom into something that would crush him and pulled out his phone.

Izuku: you can come in, you know.

Katsuki narrowed his eyes at the screen.

Katsuki: why are you staring? Fucking freak.

He typed furiously, ignoring the small tremble in his fingers. There was no going back now.

Izuku: Mom's excited you're coming over. Just come in, it's fine.

Katsuki rolled his eyes and shoved his phone into his back pocket before knocking precisely once before the door swung open. Izuku stood with a smirk on his face next to Inko whose face broke into a smile the moment she saw Katsuki.

"Katsuki!" She exclaimed happily, "it's been so long! Come in!"

Katsuki nodded and stepped inside, slipping off his shoes and setting them next to the door. "Thank you for allowing me over," he said, bowing his head slightly.

"Oh, come on now, you're always welcome here!" she said before swiftly running back to the kitchen as a timer went off. "Dinner should be ready shortly so don't stray too far, Izuku." She called out as the creak of the stairs alerted her to the two boys already walking up the stairs.
