"Use your fucking power!" Katsuki screamed at Shoto. He stopped advancing, let his quirk relax in his palms and waited. He stared at the boy whom he was falling for- the boy who wasn't using his fire.
He wasn't going to win like this.
But Shoto just stood there with ice creeping across his skin. He looked at Katsuki too, his face a mix of guilt and pain. How could he follow through with the plan when he knew how much it would hurt Katsuki?
The league was watching the festival. He knew that.
Denki had been able to throw his match to remain underestimated. Out of the spotlight. So why couldn't Shoto just do what he had to do.
The plan was in place.
Everything was set up; all he had to do was stop fighting. Let Katsuki win and yet his just couldn't convince himself it was right. Touya said there would be another way but their time-line was short. They were counting on him.
Katsuki or the league.
Katsuki and the league.
Gods it was impossible. But Katsuki was screaming at him now to use the fire that he knew he was capable of.
He wanted to- Shoto could have won quickly. He had the advantage of a second quirk; one that no one else knew about. One he couldn't turn off.
But then he heard yelling from the audience. Yelling from that Midoriya guy telling him it was his power. Obviously he knew that it was his power and he could use it how he wanted.
He did use is as he wanted.
And he was going to use it to make the world a better place. For himself and Katsuki. For his brother and the league.
He knew what he had to do.
"I'm sorry." He whispered to himself right before he extinguished his flames. It was all over.
It was a flash of an fiery explosion and the anger in Katsuki's face that he saw last before passing out. Shoto was about to win but it was better to lose. His flames had been bright and strong and engulfed his entire left side but when he saw Katsuki ready to charge he just had to go through with the plan.
Throw the match.
Play with Katsuki's anger.
Get the world to see the rage inside of him- Shoto extinguished his flames. It had to be done, he needed Katsuki to join him. For the benefit of the league and for himself.
He just hoped that whatever relationship they had wasn't ruined by his choices.
But he had to do it. It was for the best of everyone; the people he loved and the people he cared about. Shoto was going to change the world and the best way for him to do that now was stop fighting.

His hands were dripping in blood. His seventy second kill- it was brutal and messy but Shoto was laughing. His clothes would be stained with the crimson red.
Blood was always warm but it was a warmth that was thick and wrapped around him pleasantly. Sometimes it was hard not to stare at it. The beauty in it. It was almost a shame that he had to wash it off.
