The phone rang at three in the morning, waking Katsuki from another restless sleep. He groaned softly, rolling over in his bed before seeing the flashing of his phone on his bedside table. No one called him this early, no one called him at all but the only thing he could think about now, was that Izuku needed him.

He pulled at the cord and let his phone drop into his hand. Katsuki squinted at the bright light of the screen, hurting his eyes, but through slanted eyes, he gazed at a number, unknown to him.

Katsuki furrowed his brows and then started to tremble as he realized who it might be. He answered immediately and held it to his ear.

"Hello?" he asked, sitting up straight in his bed. Katsuki pulled his knees to his chest and fiddled with the edge of the blanket anxiously. Silence met him on the other end, only a soft breathing made it's way through the receiver. Katsuki waited the for the person on the other end to speak, but there was nothing. Only an anxiety filled silence. "Hello?" Katsuki tried again, but still, there was nothing.

Katsuki let out a frustrated breath and took in a deep one to calm him nerves. Was it who he thought it was? Could it be "Shoto?" he asked, voice barely coming out as a whisper. He spoke the name almost like a prayer- whatever god was out there he prayed it was Shoto, coming back to him.

The phone call ended as soon as the words left his mouth.

"Damn it!" Katsuki exclaimed, tossing his phone across his bed. Was it even him? Was it Shoto who called him or was it truly a random number. Katsuki hadn't thought far enough ahead to recall the exact number and he cursed himself for it. It wasn't Shoto's- he knew that well enough but whose to say Shoto didn't get a new number? Whose to say that he just hadn't been able to call before.

Katsuki ran his hand through his hair, sinking back into his bed and pulling the blankets up and over his head. His heartbeat echoed through the room, thundering in his ears.

Had it been Shoto?

Was there any way to tell at all who it was? Who would call at such an early time? It wasn't anybody in his contacts and he didn't give his number out regularly. A scam caller?

Katsuki wanted to believe more than anything that it was Shoto who called him but as the night went on, and sleep refused him, the blonde grew more and more hopeless until he almost convinced himself nothing happened.

~

Shoto knew the number by heart. He'd recited it in his head like prayer more times than he could count. He had held his phone in his hands, staring at the number pad, his fingers hovering above the keys.

Nine easy numbers.

It wasn't that hard. He'd call Katsuki and tell him that he was sorry and that he wanted to make things better. He wanted to try again. He. He wanted to make up for being a shit boyfriend.

Were they even still together? Technically they never broke up so it was all too complicated for him.

Shoto typed in eight numbers, pausing at the ninth. It was late- really late. But Shoto couldn't get Katsuki off his mind.

He could never get the blonde off his mind but especially after his conversation with Touya and Hawks he couldn't even close his eyes without seeing Katsuki's face behind the lids.

He pressed the last number and held it up to his ear. He was going to get back with Katsuki.

The phone rang. It rang and it rang and it rang until Shoto became terrified that Katsuki wasn't going to answer it until the receiver clicked on.
