Chapter 40

The next morning Zoe stirred, when she opened her eyes she found that she was being held to Sebastian's chest, and he had moved her to the bed. Zoe rolled over so she could face Sebastian, when he saw that she was awake he smiled,

"How are you feeling sweetie?" Sebastian asked,

"A lot better"

"That's good to hear, do you need a sick day?"

"No I'm fine, I think it was just something I ate"

"Okay, you have a doctors appointment today, whenever you're ready we can leave"
"Okay dad" Zoe stayed in Sebastian's arms for a while longer.

A few minutes later she sat up and rubbed her eyes, Sebastian got out of bed and picked her up. He brought Zoe to her room and grabbed some clothes. He left the room so she could change and came back in once she was done. While Zoe was getting dressed Sebastian also got dressed and quickly brushed his hair. They had a quick breakfast and got in the car. Zoe was back to using her crutches.

The drive to the doctor was a full on Cyndi Lauper sing along. Once they reached the doctors Zoe got out and walked in on her crutches with Sebastian close behind her. They walked to the front desk and Sebastian checked her in,

"Hello, I was told to bring in my daughter Zoe Watts, she needs her foot looked at"

"Do you have a set time?"

"No, I was just told to bring her in"

"Alright, I can have a doctor with you in ten minutes"
"Perfect thank you" Sebastian and Zoe walked into the waiting room. Sebastian placed Zoe on his lap. Zoe took Sebastian's fingers in her hand and began playing with them. Sebastian lightly laughed and leaned back in the chair. The ten minutes flew by, the nurse came into the room and looked around with a smile,

"Zoe Watts?"

"That's me," Zoe said. Sebastian helped Zoe off his lap and they followed the nurse into a vacient room.

"Alright, I see in your file that your foot is bothering you"

"Yes" Zoe said nervously,

"Okay, does it hurt right now?"

"A bit ya"
"Can you rate the pain on a scale of 1-10?"

"About a 6"

"How long has this been happening for?"

"Since I broke my foot"

"Alright, I am going to consult with the doctor, I will be right back"

"Thank you," Sebastian said. Once the nurse left Zoe turned to Sebastian with wet eyes, "is something wrong?"

"Do you know what's going to happen?"

"I don't, but I promise whatever it is I will be here with you the whole time"
"O-okay"

"Do you want a hug?" Zoe stuck her arms out and nodded her head yes. Sebastian stood up and picked Zoe up under the armpits. Zoe rested her head on Sebastian's shoulder and Sebastian rubbed Zoe's back and rocked her back and forth. A few minutes later the nurse knocked on the door and walked back in the room.
