6.

"I got beat up in that alley." Steve spoke up I looked at him and he looked at me. I turn my gaze out the window remembering how bruised up he was.
"And in that parking lot." He said.
I sighed.
"And behind that diner." I pressed my eyes shut.
"Did you have something against running away?" Peggy asked.
"No."
"Yes."
We both said in union. I we look at each other and roll our eyes.
"It sounds like you did." Peggy says.
"If you run away they'll never stop." He says turning to look at the streets.
"It wasn't that bad." He says to peggy and she nods.
"You weren't the one cleaning up the cuts on your skin." I said quietly. Peggy looked at me. "They were bad." I looked out the window. I'm so happy they actually picked Steve. He's been through so much. He deserved a boost.
We get to the laboratory where Dr.Erskine will be presenting the super soilder serum and testing it out on Steve.
"Agent Barnes." Howard steps closer to me embracing me in a tight hug. I step away and he goes to peggy.
"You must be Steve Rogers. Im sorry I met you a couple weeks ago but I never got the chance to introduce myself. " He says looking at Steve. I go to stand next Steve. Basically nudging him towards Howard. Steve is star struck. I clear my throat and Steve comes back to earth shaking his head in disbelief.
"Yes, Yes! I am Mr.Stark. It's fine sir you didn't- I already knew you so no need for a introduction." Howard nod.
"Agent Barnes a word." Howard says.
I look at Steve on last time.
"You'll be great,  I'm sure of it." We smile at each other before they rush him to get changed. I go toward Howard and he takes me towards the side.
"Hello darling."he says with a grin as soon as he knows no one is listening. I roll my eyes at him. "I just wanted to say you will be watching from up there." He points up to a room at the  top of the stairs with a large glass window. I let out a laugh.
"By all means go ahead and watch it from there; but if you think for one second that i would leave Steve's side while he is to undergo a highly dangerous procedure to be with you and your nerd friends you have another thing coming."
"Rebe-." He tries to make me understand that its dangerous for me to be down here.
"I don't care. He is my brother's bestfriend and I'm his first contact I will not leave his side."
"Listen-."
"No you have to listen I will stay here far away so nothing will happen to me but close enough to know if anything goes wrong so I can run to his side if he needs me to." Howard nods and starts walking towards the other scientist. I look Steve who was now shirtless he was now laying back in a bed.
"I won't be watching from up there. I am going to be down here." He goes and grabs a pair of scientific glasses and places them on my face.
"These are for your protection. Don't take them off until this is all done. It's going to get bright in here and if you have then off it can effect your vision." I nodded.
"Mr.Stark." Dr.Erskine says out loud. Howard walks away from me and goes towards Steve. "How are your levels?"
"Levels are at one hundred percent." He takes a good look at Steve. "We may dim half the light in Brooklyn.. but we are ready... as we'll ever be.."
Steve and Howard look my way. I give them a small smile.
Dr.Erskine tells peggy she should go upstairs where everyone else is going to be and she does passing me.
Dr.Erskine gets a microphone and initiates what he's going to do to Steve. My body send a cold wave down my spine and my hands were sweating. I look over at Steve and he was already looking at me. I scrunch my eyebrows together and he gives me a smile. I can see how worried he was. But he tried to put on a brave face. I could see right through him. I know him to well. He was terrified. We both knew something could go terribly wrong. I felt bad for putting him in that position. But he also had to accept it and he did. He wanted this. Howard began the injecting the serum into Steve. I watched his every move. They put Steve in a incubator not before taking one last look at me. I gave him a weak smile. Everyone out on their glasses. I stared carefully at Howard seeing that he started the hardest part of this trial. Shivers went down spine when I heard Steve scream in pain. Tears started to form in my eyes. He was dying.
"Shut it down!" I scream. Howard and Dr.Erskine looked at me. "SHUT IT DOWN!"I screamed. I heard another voice apart from mine. I look up at the stairs and saw peggy screaming the exact same thing.
Howard moved his hands towards the wheel he was just turning to push it back releasing steve.
"No I can take it! " Steve scream in pain. Dr.Erskine nodded at Howard and Howard looked at me. I was scared out of my God damn mind.
"Of course he can take it. He can do this all fucking day." Remembering Steve's moto. I was pissed off that he was still putting himself in this excruciating pain.
I see Howard push the wheel to its max. It made the lights flicker.  LightBolts started to burn out,exploding by the second.
All of a sudden the machine stopped working. No more screams were heard.
"Dear god." I said walking towards the machine.
"Mr.Stark." Dr.Erskine yelled for Howard to open the machine.
Howard pressed a button and the machine opened revealing a very defined Steve.
The doctor and Howard help him out of the machine.
"Stevie? I whispered.
I was practically shoved to the side by peggy as she ran towards steve. I nurse gave me a towel to give to Steve I took it and turned towards Steve. I was about to hand it to him when it was yanked out of my hands by peggy. She began cleaning his sweat off of his now muscular body. I looked at her clearly irritated on why she's acting like that but my thoughts were interrupted by Howard. He pulled me aside and wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me up and twirling me around I happiness.
"I can't believe it worked." He mumbled in my ear.
"I'm so happy for you." I said looking back to where Steve was standing. Steve's eyes were already on me. I turned away quickly to look at Howard with a huge smile. I was so incredibly happy. I looked around the team examining people's reaction. That when is see on of the men that were watching from upstairs. He was holding something silver I'm his hand and he opened it. The smile I had on my face GONE. Why? I realised he had a fucking bomb.
"Oh shit." Everything seemed to happen in slow motion. Howard's followed my eyes and saw what I was looking at. I reached out for my gun but before I could shoot Howard placed his body over mine shielding me from the explosion.
I look over Howard's shoulders to see the man taking the last vile of the serum and putting it in his pocket.
"Stop him." Dr.Erskine said before getting shot 2 times. I got up and shot the man in the arm once then peggy joined in shooting him again. But he still got away. I turned to look at steve to see if he was okay. He was bent down over Dr.Erskine. He looked a mixture of angry and sad. I couldn't quite put a finger on it. I grabbed a shirt that was saved for him and ran to his side putting the shirt against his chest. "Go." I whispered, I bent down to take the doctors pulse and shook my head at Steve." He's gone Go." I said before he ran off behind peggy.
"Fuck." I screamed. Howard pulled me into a hug." What the actual fuck." I said against his chest.
