Chapter Twenty-Six

26 - Ocean

Umalis ako sa araw na 'yon. Iniyak ko ang nangyari pero mas nasasaktan akong isipin ang maaaring mararamdaman ni Reizo.

Mas masakit na naman sa kanya 'to. Mag-iisip na naman siya na hindi siya sapat para sa akin dahil nakita na naman niya kami ni Ridge. I was too worried and more hurt for Reizo than what I feel. That he'll question his worthiness for the second time again.

Bumalik ako sa penthouse ni Reizo kinabukasan pero nang makitang wala siya ay inakalang nasa opisina kaso wala rin.

"Uh... Zavi. Do you know where Reizo is?" I went to SVD Holdings to see him. Walang alam si Ate Ria kahit secretary siya ni Reizo.

"He's in New York." Gulat ako sa narinig.

Why? Why did he go there?

"W-Will he stay there for long? Again?" Kabado sa magiging sagot sa tanong ko.

I saw him shake his head. "I don't know, Kaela. He just messaged me that he needs to go there."

"Okay... Uh. Sorry sa abala." Ngumiti ako nang tipid at lumikod na.

"I know what happened." Napalingon naman ako sa kanya nang sabihin niya 'yon.

Sa ngayon, naiisip ko na lang na halos ng mga pinsan namin ang may alam. It was hard to keep it a secret most especially to the people you trust the most. The one you can confide in if you're in deep pain.

Ngumiti ako nang mapait sa kanya. "Do you really think I did that?" I saw him shook his head.

"Ridge talked to me about it." He uttered.

"Do you believe him?" I asked. His eyes were cold looking at me. Pareho sila ng paraan ni Reizo pero magkaiba lang ang kulay ng mga mata nila.

I heard him release a deep sigh. "I didn't..." Sumakit ang dibdib ko sa sinabi niya at tumungo na lang. I bit my lip hard not to show how hurt I was because of what Zavi uttered. "But now, I do." He added.

I lifted my eyes and looked at him. Nakita ko ang pagsisisi at awa sa mga mata niya.

"Ridge asked me for help because something's blocking Reizo's mind, or maybe something's blocking the truth to be uncovered."

Tumango ako habang nakikinig sa mga sinasabi niya. I know about it.

It was Lolo Cillian. Pero hindi ko sasabihin dahil wala rin naman silang magagawa dahil sariling pamilya ko na ang nanghaharang para malaman ang katotohanan.

"It will destroy him if ever he finds out the truth who were behind it..." I whispered.

Nanghina ako dahil isa rin si Lolo Alessio kaya ang hirap hirap para sa akin na sirain sila sa mata ni Reizo para lang isalba ang relasyon namin.

Narinig ko ang marahas na paghinga niya. "Who are they, Kaela?" He asked coldly. I shook my head and looked up at him.

"Please, don't dare look for it, Zavi. I just need Reizo to trust me..."

"But he won't, especially now that something's clouding his judgment!" He exclaimed. Tumango-tango ako dahil tama siya.

"Alam ko..." Nanghihina kong sabi.

"I can tell him everything without that, Kaela. I can prove to him your innocence in this fucked up situation that both of you were in!"

"No... please. I know. Pero gusto kong manggaling sa akin ang paliwanag. I want him to believe me. I want him to forgive me because he believes me. Not because you explained to him about it. Gusto ko manggaling sa kanya na pinapaniwalaan niya ako dahil sa mga paliwanag ko." Iyak ko sa kanya.
