Chapter Sixteen

16 - Promise

After that day, when we stayed in the rain, I got sick. But it was worth it, which I always tell Reizo every time I caught him being concerned and mad seeing me in that state.

Inilagaan niya ako sa araw na 'yon at sobra nag pag-aalala noong hindi bumababa ang lagnat ko. Mabuti na lang at kinaumagahan ay umayos ang pakiramdam ko.

The day I am so excited to celebrate came. I was busy here in our mansion with Mischa as we were preparing something for Reizo and I's second anniversary.

I wore a white ruffle square neck spaghetti strap linen mini dress. I got my Chanel mini bag and put my phone in there.

"What are you planning to do?" Mischa asked when she went inside my room.

"I'll sleep at Reizo's later," I replied while applying minimal makeup. "Gusto mong sumama?" Her eyes widened, and she shook her head.

"Ayoko mainggit at ayoko maging thirdwheel niyo." She stated and we laughed because of that.

"Maiiwan ka mag-isa dito." Nilingon ko siya ulit.

"Tafia's inviting us for a slumber party later. Timing nga eh." She answered.

I looked at Mischa when we reached downstairs. I saw Rex waiting for me outside to drive me to Reizo's penthouse.

Baka nagtatampo na 'yon dahil sinabi kong huwag niya na akong sunduin at ako na lang ang pupunta sa kanya.

He really didn't stop messaging me this morning to come over there, but I didn't oblige. He insisted further. However, I was too firm with my decision to go there later this evening since I was also busy preparing the food with Mischa earlier.

"Maiiwan na kita." I uttered to Mischa. I hugged her after.

"I'll get going later. Enjoy kayo!" Mischa beamed at me and waved her hand as soon as I went inside the car.

Tahimik lang naman si Rex sa byahe kaya wala rin akong nakausap. There was no traffic and our place is just near to Reizo's that's why it didn't take us long to arrive there.

I smiled at Kuya Marco when I saw him at the entrance. I have known him since I constantly visit Reizo here in his place.

"Thank you..." I said to Rex when we reached Reizo's penthouse. Kinuha ko na sa kanya ang gamit ko.

Nagpaalam na rin si Rex sa akin pagkatapos. Sinabi ko rin sa kanyang dito na ako at sumunod naman siya.

Instead of using my fingerprint to open Reizo's door, I reached for my phone to call him.

I cleared my throat and rehearsed what I am going to say! Sana talaga hindi siya magalit sa akin sa gagawin ko.

As soon as I called him, he answered instantly. I bit my lip and closed my eyes.

"Help me, please!" I hysterically screamed. I need to make it more real that's why I tried to act as if I'm crying.

"Kaela! What happened? Where are you?" I heard the concern laced in his voice.

"Please, I'm outside your building—" Hindi ko na natuloy dahil sa malakas at biglaang pagbukas ng pintuan sa harap ko. Reizo's face was filled with concern, rage and relief as he saw me.

"Happy anniversary, my love!" I greeted him happily and crushed my body on his chest.

He looked so flabbergasted. It seemed like he was trying to confirm if I was really here in front of him and not in some danger.
