"Lumai!"

"Lumai!"

"Got a pocket full of songs that I'm gonna sing and I'm ready to take on anything. Hurray!"

"Lum-"

"Some super fun surprise around each corner, just riding on a rainbow. Gonna. Be. Okay."

"Luma-"

"Hey! I'm not giving up today! There's nothing getting in my way an dig you knock knock me over, I will get back up again. Oh and if something goes a little wro-"

"Lumai Stilton! Get. Your. Ass. Out. Here. Now!" interrupted the harsh voice of Amanda. The didn't usually yell... What crawled up her butt and died?

"Well you can go ahead and bring it on. Cause if you knock knock me over, I will get back up again." I whisper sang while I headed downstairs to the angry adult. What does she want anyway? Did someone dob me in for nothing? I walked to the lobby and saw the married couple from yesterday. Lilly and ...Michael if I remember right.

"Hello." I greeted, "Have you seen Amanda?"

They looked toward me and Lilly spoke up, "Yes, she's just over there." her voice held humor and I soon found out why. I turned 90° and came face to face with a furious Amanda. How did I miss her?

"How you doing?" I quoted Joey from friends. A little laugh can't hurt.

"Not now, Lumai. What where you doing that was so captivating you couldn't hear me?" she was probably embarrassed about yelling up a staircase without response for who knows how long.

"Uh... Trolls..." I mumbled. It was a little kid show but can you blame me?

"What was that? Speak up, no one likes a number." I held in a laugh at her choice of words.

"Did you just quote Mother Gothal?" she flared heavily at me but my smile didn't drop or even droop.

"Stop playing games! Mr and Mrs Sandor came to foster you but now they might be having second thoughts because of your behaviour." was she warning or rubbing it in? "Lumai, wait here. Mr Sandor, Mrs Sandor, would you please follow me to the office?" her voice changed from warning to kind in an instant as she swapped between addressing me and them.

I watched as they as rose and walked down the hall. I blink once and sat unceremoniously on the waiting area seats.

"Oh and if something goes a little wrong, well you can go ahead and bring it on... Knock knock me over.. I will get back up again." I mumbled absently while I wondered why they came back. We didn't seem to hit it off or bond much. We're they desperate? They didn't bat an eyelid when I was being yelled at, is that a red flag or did they recognise that I deserved it?

It felt like hours I was sitting there and hum-mumbling but I think it was fifteen minutes, finally I heard a door open and soft chatter down the hall. I shot upright but quickly slouched forward with my elbows on my knees and my head in my hands. They soon appeared in the doorframe.

Ugh, doorframes.. The morning traps of Satan.

Right!

"Ok, Lumai!" Amanda said overly cheery, "They still want you and have signed all the paperwork, go pack your things and you'll head off." ahh, that's why. She wants me gone.

"Okie pokie! Be down in a bit." I stated and ran up the stairs, ignoring Amanda yelling at me not to. I got to the no longer my room and for the second time in a month packed all my things up to move homes and families. As I folded and placed trinkets or clothes in my suitcase I couldn't help but remember the last time I was doing this.
