"We just want to talk."
None of them made a move to attack or be prepared to defend, I took this chance to study them all.
Man 1 had short blond hair and tan skin but his face, and the others', were in shadow. He did have those inner loop eating things that stretch your earlobes, I'm calling him earlobes. He was in a leather jacket that made him look buffer than he was, he was rather slim and tall.
Man 2 had dark skin and even darker dreadlocks that he'd tied behind his back, they looked long. I could only just see his eyes because they were darker then the shadow. He was in a simple tee and jeans that showed off all his muscles. He was actually buff, unlike earlobes who looked like a gymnast. I'll call him... Well I want to call him darkest because of his eyes but I feel like that sounds racist. He'll just be man 2
The woman had black hair with brown highlights but was really pale and freckly. She was also slim but obviously strong and beautiful. She was in a tank top and leather leggings that really accented her figure. Still looks like Snow White though, that's her new name.
"Sorry we destroyed your... home but we could let you have a strong hold, here we can talk." Man 2 explained in the form of a empty apology. The others nodded and put themselves into relaxed positions, whether to taunt me, get comfortable or seem less threatening, I didn't know.
"Why isn't she saying anything?" whispered Snow White as she gave me a criticizing side glance. I scowled at her in response but didn't talk.
"Idk but it's creepy." whispered back earlobes obnoxiously. He was taunting me so I just ignored him. Wait, did he actually say 'i-d-k'?
"You can talk, right?" asked man 2 but I didn't respond. Silence descended for only a moment before he continued, "Well, I'm going to explain something to you then give you an offer. You only have to nod or shake your head but there's no pressure to accept. Okay?"
I still didn't respond in anyway and they gave each other concerned stare, making weird features like shrugs and waves to communicate. What the fuck were they doing?
"Does she speak English?" Earlobes asked stupidly, I continued to ignore him. "Maybe she's deaf?" I really wanted to roll my eyes at that but kept my defensive stance and eye contact with Man 2.
"Just shut up." ordered Snow White with an eye roll I so desperately wanted to do as well.
"Okay, we work for a special company, kind of like the police but secret." he paused to see if I understood but I gave nothing away, holding eye contact relentlessly. "We saw you... we've been watching you... we've seen what you're capable of and want to recruit you, give you a job in our... company." he obviously didn't have a speech planned and just phrased it as he went, what I got from it, though, was that they're vigilantes that stalk homeless children.
'Was that the explanation or the offer?' I asked Tarnyx who responded with a lazy dunno. I narrowed my eyes suspiciously at man 2 who looked at the other two for help. Earlobe was on the verge of laughter while Snow White was leaning on the wall shaking her head disappointedly.
"Way to go, Ray." said Earlobe sarcastically, "Lucky for you, I don't think she understands English. So let's knock her out and take her back to head quarters to find a translator."
"Are you kidding me! What other language do you think she would speak? German?" yelled Snow white, making me flinch slightly as I unintentionally remembered Devil yelling at me all those times. Earlobes gave her a 'maybe' look and she groaned frustratedly.
Ray must've seen my flinch because he tilted his head curiously. I still made no indication that I understood but now they know for sure I'm not deaf. The other two were still arguing but me and Ray ignored them, or he did and I tried not to flinch when they got to loud.
