Ch9. Memories

Greg eventually arrived running to the temple. As we was getting filled in Pearl's gem began to glow.

We all felt relieved but as she came back she was different. And she didn't have her memories.

It was the same for everyone. As Pearl sang her song of explaining who everyone was.

Spinel's gem glowed last.

But her form was different from before. Y/n tried to form her Shield but it just glitched.

Eventually light pink arms wrapped around her body and Spinel threw herself onto her.

Pearl explaining who spinel was and what she does. Steven and Y/n were confused but Spinel's sudden reaction.

"You're not mad?" Steven asked.

Spinel laughed "mad? Why would I be mad at my best friend! Hahaha!" Spinel cackled and dangled herself on Y/n arm.

Y/n and Steven shared glances.

"You don't remember? You don't remember us?" Y/n asked lightly brushing off spinel.

Spinel's wide smile turned to a frown as she tightened her grip on y/n's arm.

"Remember what? I remember that you're my new best friend!" Spinel smiled widely.

"What about...that!" Y/n dragged spinel outside and pointed to the injector.

They all walked up to the injector.

"Wowee ! That thing sure is big! Wanna climb it or something?" Spinel asked.

"Wait. You still don't remember? Anything!?" Steven said frustrated.

Spinel shook her head.

"What about you lion. Can you make any sense of this?" Steven asked

Lion just yawned. "You're no help..well at least I can store this in your mane..what?! I can't store things in lion's mane anymore!? That's the easiest thing I do!" Steven complained.

"Hand me it...seriously!? Me too? How much damage did this do to us?" Y/n asked looking down at the scythe and place it away in her hoodie.

"Hey..why don't we go to little home-world?" Y/n suggested.

"What? Why should we— Bismuth, Lapis, and Peridot..they're still here!"

"Exactly. Now come on! Uh Steven-"
As Y/n was about to drag Steven to little home-world. She realized the rest weren't following them.

Spinel was already far ahead. But then came back. "Guys?" Steven asked.

"She isn't going anywhere with you!"Ruby projected

"I do see that we follow them to the country side" said Sapphire walking to us.

"Dad. Just watch Pearl and Amethyst we'll me back! Come on N/n"

"She rode in on that?!"

"Yeah..she said that our human half won't stand a chance against her injector.." y/n said

"What does that mean?" Lapis asked.

Y/n shrugged.

"Why don't we just ask her?" Peridot suggested. 

"Well, here's the thing— Huh? What? Where'd she? Gah!" Spinel creeps up from behind y/n and pokes at her shoulders.

"Surprise!"

"Here she is... My new best friend, Spinel.." y/n said with a smile. "A pleasure to meet you all." Spinel said taking a bow.

"I thought you said she was just trying to kill you." Bismuth said confused.

"Well she got hit buy um..I'm not sure what it is. But she hit us with this" I handed the scythe to the peridot.

"What is this? Some sort of laser or—"

"Careful with that!!" Bismuth snatched the weapon from peridot.

"It's a Rejuvenator...Homeworld used to use these things on Gems that started steppin' out of line. One hit with this... You're back to how they made you." Bismuth said pressure the button on the rejuvenator.

"Oh my stars..I touched! Oh my stars, I touched it! I could have lost all my character development! Why'd you make me touch it Y/n!" Peridot complained hitting y/n lightly.

Spinel noticed this and pushed peridot away and wrapped her arms around y/n many times.

"Can't let my best friend getting hurt! Hey! Back off!" Spinel said sticking her tongue out to peridot.

"I wasn't even hitting her that hard! Put y/n down!" Peridot said trying to reach me.

"I said back off!"

"Spinel!"

Are attention went to Steven. "Put her down, please"

"Since you asked nicely!" Y/n was dropped to the floor.

"Wait, how did you two survive being hit by that thing, Steven?" Peridot asked.

"We didn't.."

"Our human half kept us from poofing, but- but our Gem half, it took the hit! She sent me back; it's like I'm a kid again! I can barely control my powers! How do we reverse this? Oh no... Do I need to get the Diamonds?"

"Steven, I don't think they'll be able to do anything. We both got healing powers! But are powers are now messed up! And we are the only ones who can fix this.." Y/n said a bit frustrated.

"I can't believe this. For the first time in years, everyone's in danger. Everybody needs me, and I'm useless! Bismuth, what do we do?"

"I'm sorry Steven. I don't know.."

"Garnet would know what to do. Garnet always knows what to do..." Steven began tearing up.

Y/n rushed to him and cupped his face. "Hey, Hey! Don't worry. We will figure out something to get them back. Okay? No matter what happens. We'll be with you for everything."

A smile crept up on Steven's face.

But it quickly turned to a frown as he saw the photo of them a few minutes ago.
