Ch15. Lies

Back on the hill, Spinel's Injector continues to pump more poison into the Earth, as a lightning storm brews overhead.

Peridot, Bismuth, and Lapis are still observing the situation on the hill. Peridot zooms in on the Injector schematic with her tablet, which shows them a dire development.

"Steven! What's the status on Spinel!?" Peridot asked urgently.

"She's back. And she's here to help." Y/n added squeezing Spinel's hand.

Spinel approaches her Injector, turns her finger into a horn and blows into it. The Injector begins to retract its legs and drill, removing itself from the Earth's crust. Everyone cheers at this development.

"Okay. Can someone fill me in?" Connie asked.

"Thanks, spinel." Steven said sighing in relief.

"Aww, gee. What are friends for?"

Steven walked away from spinel dragging Y/n away from her as well. "Okay. We've almost cleaned up this mess. Now, all we need are Garnet's memories and my powers, and we can all get back to living happily ever after"

"What could work for Garnet?" Y/n asked looking at her.

"Something about fusion... Something about love..." Steven said.

"What about me...?"

"Mm?" Steven turned to spinel.

"Is that all you needed me for? To turn off my Injector?"

Oh no.

"No! Well... Sort of, but-" y/n nudged Steven's arm.

"Well, what now? I-I-I did what you wanted. That's it?"spinel said stuttering.

"Well, yeah. We can just... forget this whole thing ever happened." Steven said.

"How you gonna forget with me around? I'm the source of all your problems. Don't pretend you want me here. What's your plan for me, huh? You gonna put me somewhere? You gonna leave me, somewhere? You gonna leave me alone?!"

"What!? No Spinel! We wouldn't—" just as Y/n was gonna finish her sentence Spinel smacks her away, knocking him back.

The Rejuvenator slides out of her pocket. Upon seeing the axe-like weapon, Amethyst and Pearl jump away from the weapon, except for Garnet, who looks at it curiously.

"Oh, what's this? " garnet asked bending down to pick up the weapon.

"Garnet! No! Don't touch that!!" Y/n rushes towards Garnet and snatches the Rejuvenator away from Garnet, just as she turns it on.

"Why do you have that?" Spinel asked hesitating.

Y/n felt guilty. That she should have given it to Steven. "I-I was just carrying it! I didn't know where to put it! I swear!" Y/n said her voice breaking.

Spinel looked at Steven.

"'We can just forget this ever happened"? You mean, I can just forget this ever happened!Wow! What a plan! I turn off the Injector, and then the moment my back is turned, Bam! Presto! Change-o! PROBLEM SOLVED! Well, think again. You're not getting rid of me that easy...!"
