The next few days were filled with snotty remarks about Potter. There were rumors flying around about how he could have cheated the system. All of which made it even harder to keep the secret on what actually happened.
Each time someone spoke about it I had to laugh it off. I even managed to create a few of my own theories. One of which was that he convinced one of the older kids to enter for him. They used complex magic to enter Potters name instead of the other students.
It seemed to be convincing enough to where it became the main theory in the school. Pansy was most impressed about my 'gossiping powers'.
That Friday though, beat everything else.
It was the day before the first challenge. Everyone was anxious to know what it was and who was going to win. Somone had managed to make badges that at first said "Support Cedric the REAL champion" and then turned to "Potter stinks" with an awful noise as it transitioned.
I didn't get one out of pure annoyance from the sound. Many others seemed to have the same feelings towards them too. The only person I knew of that didn't wear it because of Potter was Diggory himself.
We were in the courtyard sitting on a tree when we watched Potter pull Diggory aside. They were whispering to eachother and Cedric looked as though he was told someone had died. He walked off leaving Potter on his own.
Potter walked over to the hall and ran into Weasley. They shared a few words before Weasley walked off unbothered. Potter turned around and marched back into the courtyard.
Draco whistled at us and pointed to him.
"Why so tense Potter?" He looked over at us. "My father and I have a bet you see I don't think you'll last ten minutes in that tournament."
Draco jumped down and walked cockily over to him. They walked closer to each other, almost squaring up. It was like two deer trying to assert their dominance.
"He disagrees. He thinks you won't last five." Draco continued.
A few of the boys laughed at his remark, thinking he did something. Pansy and I stayed back, not wanting to interfere with them.
"I don't give a damn about what your father thinks Malfoy." Potter said, seemingly agitated.
From what I heard this was usually how an argument between them started. Draco would say something and it would Piss Potter off. They would either get in a fight, or Potter and his friends would walk away.
Potter got a little closer and shoved Draco. Draco gave a small grunt as he stumbled back.
"He's vile and cruel, and you're pathetic." Potter spat before turning around and walking off diligently.
"Pathetic." Draco mumbled as he tried to pull out his wand.
"Oh no you don't son!" Before he could reach Potter, Professor Moody got to Draco.
I gasped as I watched the spell hit Draco, turning him into a ferret. Pansy screamed and hid behind one of the boys. I laughed and took a few steps closer as other students came to see.
The professor picked Draco, or the Ferret up with another spell and started to fling it up and down. He mumbled insults as he continued to do it, making it perform a few tricks in the process.
Professor McGonagall ran over, followed by a few other students. She yelled at him with a frightened voice.
"Is that a student?" She asked.
"Technically it's a ferret." I said.
McGonagall looked up and glared at me as a few students laughed. Harry seemed to look at me in surprise, but I quickly looked over to see Moody sticking the ferret down Crabbe's pants. This time I was the one who slightly shrieked.
