My dress had came in at the perfect time. Everything fit perfectly, the dress had been absolutely stunning. Everyone else had nice dresses as well, some more odd than the others, but they fit. I used the prefects bathroom since nobody would be in there and I wouldn't be bothered by fussy girls who may try to ruin my look. It felt nice to have a bathroom to myself, until I saw someone else in the reflection of the mirror. I looked back, startled and realised it was a ghost.
"Well, don't look so surprised. As if you didn't know I was in here. You probably came in to taunt me about not being able to go to the ball." The ghost pouted.
"I'm sorry, who are you?" I asked.
The ghost looked at me surprised and flew closer to me, trying to get as eye level as possible.
"I'm Moaning Myrtle. Do you not know where you are right now?" She asked in a snobby manor.
"In the prefects bathroom. I'm aware of what happened a few years ago, but why should that stop me from being in here." I said.
"You're brave, but why would you want to be all alone?" Myrtle tilted her head.
"Well, I'm not exactly welcomed and so I figured the best place would be here where nobody would bother me." I sighed.
"You're that transfer girl." Myrtle gasped.
"Yes, how do you know about me?" I questioned.
"Oh nothing, it's just that there was a particular boy in the boys prefect bathroom not to long ago talking about you." She smiled.
"Would it happen to be Potter?" I guessed.
"Mhm." She said excitedly, it appeared that she knew something that she wanted me to know.
"Well, what did he say?" I asked.
"Oh nothing, he just talked about how beautiful and brave you are talking to Malfoy the way you do. That stupid boy." She said, pretending to faint.
"So he truly fancies me?" I .wondered.
"Well, I don't know. He didn't say anything beyond that. In fact he left after he found out the song to the egg." She sighed.
"Right, the clue to the next challenge." I said.
She nodded and I finished up my hair, getting the last two pins in before leaving. Before I did though, Myrtle said one more thing to me.
"Well, have fun on you're little date." She winked and then splashed into one of the toilets.
I laughed at how odd of a ghost she was, but payed no mind to it. What I cared more about was what Potter had said. From the sounds of it he truly did fancy me and I was going to see just how much he wanted me. I wouldn't tell anyone of course, but the feeling of having the chosen one possibly at the tip of my finger felt good. I felt like I had a slight upper hand and I was going to use it to it's full potential.
When I got down to where the ball was, there were audible gasps everywhere. I looked around to see who it was, and saw Granger on the staircase, walking down slowly. She seemed to be enjoying all of the girls and boys gawking at her. I looked around, trying to find Potter when I saw him standing next to Weasley. I almost laughed at what he was wearing, but managed to keep it in.
When Potter saw me, his eyes grew wider and Weasley gave a disgusted look. I smiled at him and he took my arm, walking me into the ball room. Before we got in there though, we were pulled to the side by professor McGonagall.
"Potter, where is your partner?" She asked, mildly concerned.
"Umm, right here professor." He pointed at me.
