The moment I opened the curtain, I saw Connor, and a slim boy with messy, curly brown hair. Both of them looked over at me, and I noticed that both were surprised to see me.
Do you know these games where there's a word that doesn't belong to the group? I felt like that word, like I wasn't meant to be there.
- "Hey, Chris." Troye said after a few seconds of silence.
I was not in the mood to answer, but I did. Both of them noticed that I was not happy. Well, I am sorry if I don't like watching my boyfriend acting all funny with the guy that almost broke us up. Connor smiled at me, a few seconds later, and I smiled back at him. - "I brought you flowers." I gave him the flowers and without looking back, started walking out of the room. Connor told me something, but I was way too angry to listen to what he was saying.
While I was walking out of there, I didn't want to stop walking, so instead, I decided to walk down to the ground floor. I didn't know what to feel, I was whether feeling angry, stupid, or just jealous. Probably the last one. It all came back to me: the picture of them at the beach and his attitude with me when he was with us. There was no one walking down the stairs (maybe because they were smarter than me and took one of the many elevators in the hospital), so I felt like I could scream. But I didn't, I was way too busy running out of breath. Seriously, why did the hospital have so many floors? I wanted to walk, not to sweat like Robert Pattinson at Planet Hollywood.
After 7 minutes of hardcore running down the ridicuslously amount of stairs, I got to the ground floor. The ground floor was huge. It had waiting rooms with more space than Connor's house. It also had a cafe, a lot of stores and the reception, where a pregnant woman appeared every 25 seconds (OK, not really every 25 seconds, but there were a lot of pregnant women in that floor). I saw a guy walking towards me. Platinum blonde hair and brown eyes. It was Kian. While he was getting closer he could see the angry, stupid look on my face. I noticed because he looked really scared, and I don't blame him, I was probably making the weirdest expression that he saw in his life.
-"Bro, bro, bro..." he started walking after me, and held my arm two seconds later, because again, he was faster than me. He raised his eyebrows. -"So?" he asked.
-"Kian, I'm not in the mood to talk about it" I turned my back, "But, your hair looks great". He smiled and let my arm go. I was actually lying, he looks way better with brown hair, but the blond hair didn't look bad either.
When I got out of the hospital, (which, may I say, was probably more confusing than getting out of Wonderland), I sat down in a stone bank next to a girl. She looked like she was 16 years old, not older than 18. She was biting her nails, and looked like she was about to pee herself. -"Are you ok?" I asked. The moment I asked her, she burst into tears. I suddenly hugged her, even though I did not know what exactly was happening. I noticed she was in pain, she was holding me really hard, and crying her heart out. When she stopped crying, she looked up at the sky.
"Don't take him now, I know I never really believed in you, but please, forgive me and let him stay." she said, while looking up to the sky. She was talking to God. She wiped the tears off her face and asked: "Do you love someone?"
I was confused, and apparently she noticed. "Well, I do. He's up there, fifth floor. He has cancer, the kind of cancer that minimizes your life to just a few more months of it. I knew that this was going to happen but like... shit... I didn't think it would all happen so fast." She burst in tears again.
-"I also have someone I love in here, but he's not in the same situation as your boyfriend. Time sucks. When you need it to go faster, it always lasts longer, and a minute feels like a lifetime. When you need it to go slower, it always goes slower, and a lifetime feels like a minute. But the thing is, at the end of the day, you still have this one minute. And you can choose what you want to do with it. We still have this one minute, to say goodbye, or to say hello. Just promise me you'll make this minute worth it."
She smiled, nodded and started running into the hospital. I hope she's taking the elevator, I don't want her sweating when she gets up there. I stood up and started running as well. I was jealous, and acting like a stupid litlle b*tch about it, while I could be talking to Connor right now. I decided to make my minute worth it. Because in this minute a lot of things happened. People were born, and people died. Someone smiled, and someone cried. There were so many things happening in this minute, and I had the choice to change mine.
