✧Wei Wuxian- They Left Me✧

A/N- This gif makes me sad- and I'm already sad so the gif is just going to crush me with sadness.

A WEEK AFTER you and Wen Ning left the Burial Mounds, Wuxian was still regretting his bad decisions. Now that he had lost Wen Ning, his sister Wen Qing was inconsolable. She refused to help Wuxian with anything, and she stayed lying on her bed all day crying her eyes out because she missed her brother. The people suffered because of Wen Qing's bad temper, which they blamed on Wuxian, which made him angry, which made the people depressed. Efficiency in the Burial Mounds went down to a standstill- no food was being harvested, and the food that was was just left to wither away and die because nobody had the appetite to eat, and nobody had the will to cook. Nobody had the will to do anything except sit around and bemoan their situation.

Wuxian, as the leader of the group, felt the darkest mood. He took to drinking every evening to soothe his guilt, but it only made him feel more guilty. As the alcohol took over his body, memories of happier times flooded his head, making him even more emotional. When people passed by his room, they would see him sitting on his bed with his head buried in his hands, rocking back and forth and sobbing. Nobody comforted him but his demons, and his temperament worsened as the weeks passed.

After three weeks of suffering, the people had enough. They took the meager belongings they had and left the Burial Mounds, traveling to different clans to become disciples of them. Wuxian didn't leave the place that had been his home for so long. Instead, he began to take care of the plants again, deciding that it wasn't a smart choice to starve and cry himself to death, and forming a fantasy in his head that you would return. After a month of waiting, that fantasy became a reality.

Wen Ning was bored of Yiling, and he was worried about his old master Wei Wuxian. You constantly said that you didn't care a fig about him, but you were also worried about the Yiling Patriarch. His health had never been good, and he probably felt terrible when you left. So you went with Wen Ning back to the Burial Mounds to check on how things were going there. You didn't expect to see no people there. The produce was growing beautifully, and flowers had been planted, but there were no people to enjoy them.

"A-Xian!" Wen Ning howled, calling out Wuxian's name to try and find out where he was.

"Yiling Patriarch!" you yelled. "Where are you, Yiling Patriarch?"

"A-A-N-Ning..." a weak voice stammered.

Wei Wuxian, the Yiling Patriarch, staggered out of the Burial Mounds. He looked terribly unhealthy- he had lost a lot of weight, his cheekbones and bones of his fingers were exposed, his hair was unbrushed and had lost its luster, and his eyes looked empty. Liquid stained his already messy gray undergarments, and he could barely walk without tripping.

Wen Ning rushed over to his old master's side and grabbed his arms, steadying him. His mouth opened wide in shock when he felt how emaciated Wuxian had become- he could feel his ribs and the bones in his wrist when he held him. Clearly, the young man had been suffering much more than he had suspected. It was good he had come now, or his master might not have survived.

You went over to help Wen Ning, but when you touched Wuxian's arm, he was seized up with uncontrollable trembling and fear. He saw your face and remembered you as the headstrong person who had yelled at him weeks earlier. Remembering how you yelled at him made him terrified, so he tried to pull away from your touch, afraid you would hurt him.

"I will not hurt you, Wuxian," you said. "I promise you that."

"N-no... A-Ning... help me... I'm s-so-sorry..." Wuxian sobbed, burying his head in Wen Ning's chest and shaking with sobs.

"I'll help you, A-Xian!" Wen Ning said enthusiastically. "What do you want me to do?"

"Kill me..." Wuxian moaned, reaching for Wen Ning's sword. "Kill me, please..."
