A/N- I love this picture. Wei Wuxian is hurt and Lan Zhan is helping him like a good boyfriend... how sweet.
I can't figure out how to end this oneshot... should I put you guys through more pain?
No, I think you've had enough pain for now, I won't make you go through any more pain.
EVER SINCE HIS breakup, Wei Wuxian had been acting different. No longer was he the happy, playful young man you loved. Nowadays, he would barely even come out of his room, and whenever he would, you were terrified. He barely ate, and he barely slept. He looked like one of the demons that he killed.
You tried to visit him as much as possible, but you were given more and more work, and you couldn't visit him as frequently. Days spent away turned into weeks, and weeks turned into a month.
It had been a month since you had last seen Wuxian. You hoped and prayed everyday that he was doing good, that he would recover soon, although you knew that he was in too great an amount of pain to ever recover. You wanted so badly to see him again, to hold his broken body in your arms, to soothe his bleeding soul. But you couldn't... you were too busy.
One day, you were hunting a demon near Lotus Pier when you saw him just lying in the forest in front of you. He was dangerously emaciated, and he was lying on a stone asleep, his body shaking with sobs and gasps. He must have been having a nightmare. When you came closer to him, his eyes shot open, and he saw you.
"Y/N..." he said, sounding unsure as to whether you were really there or not.
You threw your arms around his emaciated body and began to sob. You couldn't handle it anymore. You had been praying for him everyday, imagining the healthy Wei Wuxian of the past in your head to comfort yourself. Now that you saw him in real life, that illusion was shattered. Disillusioned, you were shaken up by the Wei Wuxian you saw in front of you.
When he breathed in and out, his body shook, and he looked at you as if you were an impossibility, as if you couldn't exist, as if you were a ghost.
"Y-Y/N..." he choked.
"Yes. Yes, Wuxian, I'm here. I'm finally back," you said, trying not to cry after you had just stopped crying. You could feel his ribs under your fingertips when you held him. It terrified you.
"I thought you left me... just like Wangji..." he sobbed.
You bit off saying, Wangji didn't leave you, you left Wangji, and kept your mouth shut.
"Stay..." he whimpered, holding onto you. "Please stay... I need you..."
"I can't, Wuxian. I have to leave you, my friend. Please forgive me, but I have too much work to do to stay at Lotus Pier," you said.
"If you leave me, I'll die," Wuxian wailed.
You turned around from where you had walked off to and saw him standing there with his sword, Suibian, put to his throat. You screamed in panic and rushed over to him, grabbing his hands and forcing the point of the sword downwards, planting the blade into the grassy ground.
"Why, Wuxian?" you cried out. "Why are you like this?"
"I'm sorry... I-I'm s-so-sorry..." he stammered. "I just can't... I can't live by myself. It's too lonely."
"So you're going to choose to kill yourself rather than live without me? How foolish," you snapped.
Right after you said that, you realized that you had made a mistake. Now, not only was Wei Wuxian crying again, but he felt like you hated him because you yelled at him.
"Oh, Wuxian, I'm so sorry," you cried out. "I didn't mean it! Really, I didn't! I'm just so impatient nowadays..."
"Y-you're right... I-I'm an idiot... I'm sorry..." he whispered.
"No!" you yelled, throwing your arms around him once again and remembering, unbidden, the time where you were comforting Lan Zhan exactly like this. "You're not an idiot, Wuxian! You're the smartest man I know! Don't you dare bring yourself down like that! I'm the idiot for insulting you and being so short-tempered. I love you, Wuxian. I really do."
"You... love me?" Wuxian said softly.
"Wuxian, we're friends. I've always loved you," you said.
"Oh, so like a friend," he said, hanging his head. "I hoped it was something more."
"Is that what you want?" you asked him.
"Y-yes..." he said in a small voice.
"Wuxian... I'm sorry... I don't love you like that. But perhaps I could. We can try," you said.
"I love you," Wuxian cried out, burying his head in your chest. "I love you so much..."
You hesitantly stroked Wuxian's hair, feeling awkward and feeling like something was wrong. You had never done this with loving intent before, at least not the loving intent of a significant other. It felt weird and wrong. But he enjoyed it.
He loved you...
This was so confusing.
A/N- The next oneshot for Lan Zhan will continue this story! I actually really love this oneshot idea. Maybe I'll make it into a full book at some point, idk. See you soon! Sorry this part was shorter, next part will be longer!
