WEI WUXIAN FELT so lonely. Not even his family looked at him when they realized he had become a demonic cultivator. They looked at him as too far gone to save, and the thing that hurt more was that the man that Wuxian loved the most, Lan Zhan, agreed with them. As much as he tried to hide it, it was obvious that he considered Wuxian too far gone to save, just like the others. This crushed Wuxian's heart; he had just wanted them to care for him. Why wouldn't they?

He took to drinking to drown his woes, and he met you through going to the bar every day. You were a kind bartender that many hopeless lechers flirted with due to your good looks and what they thought to be foolishness. But you always turned men down- until you met Wuxian. He was so pathetic that your heart was moved to feel pity for him, and you would sometimes walk him back to his home in Cloud Recesses when he was too drunk to think straight.

Despite the fact he lived in Cloud Recesses, you found Wuxian very different from the stuck up, elite Lan clan. You thought he was just a disciple, but one night he became drunk and told you that he lived there because his home was destroyed, and he loved the young master Lan Wangji. When you learned this, you began treating Wuxian differently, not wanting to suffer at the hands of the Lan clan for a moment of harshness.

One night, he staggered into the bar late, just before it was about to close. You could see blood trickling down his forehead, and he seemed out of it. He must have been struck on the head hard, and was now suffering. You rushed over to his side and took his hands in yours. His body was dangerously weak- you could feel his bones under your hands, his weak pulse, his trembling- and when he spoke, the emotion in his voice broke your heart. He sounded so broken.

"What happened, Wuxian?" you asked, leading him to one of the rooms upstairs used for travelers that were staying in Caiyi Town for a few nights. He laid down in the bed and buried his head into the pillow, sobbing loudly.

"T-they... they h-hurt me," he whimpered, his hands shaking too much to hold onto the sheets. "Shije... Sh-she didn't stop them. She's my older sister but she just stood there. She hates me just like the others!

"Nobody hates you, Wuxian," you said, knowing you were lying but wanting to comfort him.

"I'm pathetic. I'm Yunmeng's greatest shame. Go away, don't even look at me!" he sobbed, hiding his face with his hair.

"Wei Wuxian- Wei Ying- you are the greatest man I have ever met. Don't you dare insult yourself. You are everything you need to be," you said, hesitantly stroking his hair, not knowing if he liked this closeness, but receiving an answer when he grabbed you and pulled you on the bed next to him, holding on to you for dear life and sobbing into your hair.

"You're lying," he yelled while holding onto you. After he yelled, he whispered, "I love you."

"You're lying! I love you. You're lying! I live you."

The poor man was so broken he couldn't even control what he was saying. You stroked his body gently until he fell asleep in your arms, then left the room and started the walk to Cloud Recesses. You would get no sleep tonight, but that was alright. Wei Wuxian's well being mattered more than a night of sleep.

And that was how you appeared at Lan Xichen's bedroom door at 2 in the morning, waking him up in a panic.

"Master Lan, forgive me, but Wei Wuxian needs your help."

A/N- Xichen's one shot will be part two to this storyline.
