Amity just left for the Owl House, and Luz, Willow, and Gus went to Bonesburrow to find something to pass the time by. Gus wanted to go to the shores of the Isles and see what human trash he can come across. That was instantly shot down by both girls, considering that's what he does every day, and he can do that on his own. Willow, of course, wanted to go exploring for new plants deep in the Palm Parks but was also shut down due to Luz and Gus' boredom with plants. So the group went with Luz's basic idea to go into the heart of town to see what they can come up with to do until Amity is done with her meeting.
"What if we go to the library and sneak into the forbidden stacks?" Gus suggested, "Didn't you and Amity do that once to get that old journal?"
Luz groaned "Ug! No! I had to tame a paper dragon for getting caught and let me just tell you, it was not fun! I nearly got my eyebrows burnt off!"
Willow leans her head on the picnic table "We can still go to Palm-"
"No!" Luz and Gus both said together, not hearing it for a second time. Willow crosses her arms and mumbles something under her breath.
Luz plays with her beanie in her hands and looks around, trying to come up with something for the three to do. Gus rapidly taps his finger on the wooden table they are seated at, speaking his mind "Well, we promised Amity not to get into trouble. It just so happens that the only fun thing to do on the Isles lately is getting in trouble. And that just happens to threaten our lives each time."
Luz nods while Willow scolds Gus for speaking the unspoken. She really didn't feel like bailing Luz and Gus out of anything today. "That's not true! Remember that carnival? That was fun and innocent."
"King shrunk us all and we got held captive to fight incaged animals." Luz states.
Gus snorts "Well you kind of hexed yourself when you said, and I quote 'This mama, is ready for trauma.'"
Luz shoots her friend two finger guns "You're not wrong there." The Latina lowers her hands and starts to pick at the table out of boredom "We could try some of those poppies Eda was looking for?" A devious smile made its way onto Luz's face. But before Willow could interject, Luz speaks up "They are a kind of plant! And, who knows. Maybe looking for the poppies will let us come across other kinds of plant species."
Now Willow really wants to disagree, but maybe they won't find the poppy. Maybe they'll get lucky and just find many wondrous, harmless plants. While Willow mulls over the proposition, Gus scratches his chin "Don't they make you see things?" Luz nods but Gus just frowns "I can do that with magic. I don't get the point of that."
Luz laughs "Buddy, it's a little different. We have something similar in the human realm. I'm sure it's the same thing. Don't you want to try something out that resembles my realm?"
Gus' eyes light up "Really? Ok, I'm down!"
Willow squints her eyes at Luz, scolding her "You're too manipulative right now. What are you up to? You're making it sound too good to be true right now. Gus gets to experience something human while I get to see plants. What's in it for you?"
Luz innocently shrugs "Nothing. Just another adventure with my dear friends."
"We're gonna die." Willow sighs and shakes her head.
Luz rolls her eyes "We're not going to die. Not today at least."
"You're terrible at reassurance."
Luz gets up from the table, dragging both Willow and Gus up "Well, you know what they say. Ya gotta be bad at something."
"No one says that." Willow moves her arms out of Luz's grasp and brushes off the dirt off her skirt.
