A Loss of Hope

Field Trip

The sun rose from the horizon of the boiling seas and touched its shores with its rays of shine. The Owl House glowed in the dawn and Hooty was awoken from the reflection of light from the seething seas.

The door owl yawns and stretches himself out "Ah, what a Hootiful morning!" The owl in the door stretches himself in circles before he fully wakes up and is ready to ruin some poor witch's day!

He elongates his tube body around his body of a house and pokes his head into the kitchen, where Lilith is already up and cooking with a smile across her face "Good morning Hootcifer."

"Morning Lulu! Whatcha cookin?" Hooty hoots happily seeing his best friend first thing in the morning.

Lilith turns to Hooty and stuffs a weird-looking piece of bread into the owl's mouth "Well? What do you think?"

The owl chews "It's amazing! Much better than the fly I ate last night. Or the night before!"

Lilith celebrates to herself and turns back around to the stove where she makes more "It's called French Toast. Another human breakfast that can be made with what we have on the Isles."

Hooty nears the witch's shoulder to peer "Why not just go to the human realm and get food there? The door is in the attic."

"Eda and I have agreed to not go through the portal unless deemed absolutely necessary. That's why Eda hasn't re-opened her human things stand. She has resorted to conning people in the market." The Clawthorne says disappointed but not surprised by her sister's actions.

Hooty just smiles blankly "Ohhhhhhhh. Hoot. Speaking of Eda, I'm going to go wake her up!" Before Lilith could protest, the owl tube ejects from the kitchen window and travels into a nearby window that happens to be Eda's bedroom. He quietly squirms his way into the Owl Lady's room and nears her nest where she quietly snores. Hooty now positions himself centimeters away from the witch's face and takes the deepest breath to only let out the loudest scream "HELLO!"

Eda wakes up almost immediately screaming and punches Hooty right in the face. The owl tube recoils back and screams in pain while Eda struggles to get her heart rate down "HOOTY!"

"EDA!" Hooty happily screams back, not reading the situation right, as usual.

Eda growls and stands up "I'm gonna cut you and make you into a stew you dumb bird!"

Hooty perks up "Ohhh! I bet I'm extra sweet!" Eda yells and lunges towards Hooty, only to be dodged. "Welp, I just wanted to say hello and good morning. GoOd MoRnInG! HOOT!" Hooty then leaves the Owl Lady's room as fast as he possibly could.

Eda just stands in her room, fuming in the direction the owl tube exited her room. Now the Wild Witch's day begins with a rough start. She travels to her vanity and screws in her golden fang. She then travels to her closet and puts on a crimson dress with her signature gem attached. Eda takes a peek in the mirror and smiles at her own reflection "Titan, it's hard looking this good, every day!"

Eda now exits her room and decides to go and wake Luz and King up. She thinks since Hooty can rudely wake her up, why can't she do the same to her apprentice. Eda slowly creeks the door open and sees King snoring at the end of Luz's bed. The witch laughs at the thought of King's reaction and continues to slowly open the door.

The door creeks more and the blankets shift only a little bit, causing Eda to halt her actions only for a moment. After the witch realizes she's in the clear she opens the door fully and tiptoes to the sleeping human. Eda has the biggest grin as she nears Luz, and as soon as she positions herself, she screams "GOOD MORNING!"

King jumps out of his lying position and runs into the wall out of pure instinct, thinking that they were under attack, aka, Eda's perfect reaction. However, what Eda did not account for was a third body. Luz shot up from sleeping while being followed by Amity who was also there. The young Blight, who was scared, summoned an abomination, which punched Eda straight in the face.
