We were finally on our way to recess, and I was walking with my friend Kristen's arm and arm. He was uncomfortable at first, but he soon relaxed. We walked all the way out onto the part where there were swings. I low-key hated mulch because it always got in my shoes.
I turned around to make sure Kristen was still beside me because he had unlinked our arms. He was already on the swings. I was heading to where he was, but all of a sudden I felt a tug on my sleeve. When I turned around I saw it was D'Shaun.
"What do you need?" I asked him. "I was wondering if you wanted to play with me, and my friends?" He asked me. I thought about it for a second. "I will play with you only if my friend Kristen can play," I say to him. He nods his head.
I turn around and start to head to go get Kristen from the swings. When I get there I stand far enough away so I don't get hit, but close enough so he can hear me call his name. "Yes," He answers. His voice was so low. "Do you want to go over there to meet some new friends?" I ask with hopeful eyes.
I want to push him to get out of his confront zone, but I don't want to push him too far. So, I just thought that we should take baby steps. Meaning, just introducing ourselves, and deciding who exactly we want to be around. I was going to stick with him no matter what. He reminds me of a baby.
He just nods his head. I took his hand in mine, and we walked over there. I saw everyone in the little group staring at us. I'm guessing the D'Shaun already told them about us. I gave Kristen's hand a little squeeze knowing he was getting a little uncomfortable with them looking at us. There were 3 boys and 1 one girl not including D'Shaun.
When we got there to D'Shaun's friends he stood on me and Kristen's side, while the other three people stood on the other. "Well, everyone this is Janaya," He said pointing to me. "and this is Kristen" I saw using my other hand that is not holding Kristen's hand to point at him, even though it was kind of obvious who I was talking to. "This is Alex, Chris, Jewel, and Diamond. Jewel and Diamond are twins." He says. That was kind of obvious, but whatever.
"What do you guys want to do?" I asked because this tension was astronomical. "Why are you guys holding hands?" Alex asked with an attitude. See I wasn't trying to get out of character again today, but I guess it is test Janaya day. "Do you have a problem with me holding his hand?" I asked looking at him. "Yea, why are you holding hands with a nerd?" He asked again.
I looked at him up and down. Then I looked at Kristen to see him looking down at his shoes. I know the dude did not make my friend feel bad. So, I continued to look around to make sure he was talking to us. "Why are you looking around?" he asked. I took a deep breath, and I was about to count to 20. But then I took in all of what he said. So not it is fuck the number 20.
"I am trying to find out who the fuck you talking to because it sholl ain't me. I don't know why you have a problem, but today is not the day to be messing with Janaya or Kristen. Are you the holding hand police?" I ask him and take a slight pause. "N--" "Didn't think so," I said as I interrupted him.
"Why don't you just leave the nerd alone, and come play with us?" He asks. I looked at Kristen and saw a teardrop. NO ONE MAKES MY FRIEND CRY! I let go of Kristen's hand, cocked my fist back, and screamed "THAT'S IT!" and I punched him right in the nose. "You *punch* Will *punch* not *punch* be mean *punch* to my *punch* BEST FRIEND" I kept going until someone pulled me off and sat me down.
It was the teacher.
