"Your not going home?" The dude asked me now looking at me with a questioning look. I look back at him. Who is he to question me? Not my father I'll tell you that much.

On our way over to D'Shaun's friends, I could tell that Kristen was getting nervous. I held his hand like I did the last time. I gave the hand a conforming squeeze, and I could see him look at me from the corner of my eyes. I just subtly nodded my hand to let him know that I was there, and then we continued to follow D'Shaun to his friends. Hopefully, they will leave a better impression.
We finally got to his friends after a 10-mile walk. We were just standing there in awkward silence, it was super intoxicating.
"Hey," I said with a light wave with the hand that wasn't holding Kristen's hand.
The guys nodded, and the girl waved her hand as I did.
"Well if you guys aren't going to talk and just be awkward. We will be on our way." I said while I turned around.
I wasn't about to sit with them and be awkward while I could play on the swings. Kristen and I turned around to start heading to the swings. We continued walking, but it was something different. I could feel someone following me. I turned around and saw the three boys and the girl following us.
We all went to the swings, and I and Kris got in the ones right beside each other. The girl that I still haven't got the name of went to sit on the other set of swings and the Alex guy sat with her. That just left Jewel and D'Shaun doing nothing. (A/N: The swing set is up top👆🏾👆🏾👆🏾)
After a few minutes of them staring into space D'Shaun takes the initiative to come up to me. Meaning I have to stop my swing so I don't hit his beautiful, yet annoying face. He just continues to look at me, and I look right back at him with an eyebrow raised.
"Um, can I push you?" He asks.
"Um, I don't need you to push me. Did you see how high I went on my own?" I ask him. If he thinks I need a man to push me he is definitely wrong here. Girl power is the best power, thank you very much. I look back at him coming to my senses, and he looks disappointed. See now I feel bad. STUPID FEELINGS!
"But" I pause for dramatic effect. He also stops when he hears my voice. "I guess I could go higher if you push me." See I have a lot of power, and I am using a lot of power to tune down my pride and not deflate his ego.
His eyes lit up and he rushed behind me and started to push me. Now that sounds wrong. Anyway, he gets behind the swing that I was on and pushes it. (that's better) We laugh and enjoy our little time together, and when I look beside me I see the boy twin pushing Kris.
Soon the bell rings, and we all have to go inside to get ready for lunch. I just went to go get my food and stood at the door waiting for Kristen. It was getting too crowded in the classroom. I spot him looking around for me, so I yell his name and wave my hand in the air. He rushes to me, and he shows me the way to the cafeteria.
Once we're in there D'Shaun is sitting at a table with his friends, but Kristen still has to go through the lunch line. I waited at the end of the lunch line to wait for him. In the corner of my eye, I see D'Shaun trying to wave us over, but I still want to get Kristen's permission to go over there. I know he doesn't like to be around that many people. Maybe he has social anxiety?
Kristen soon stood in front of me, and I subtly nod my head to the table that D'Shaun was at. He just nods his head and I shrug my shoulders. I don't know what we're saying, but it seems like a good conversation. He soon just rolled his eyes and nudged me towards the table. We walked to the table and sat down.
We soon had a good conversation going, and I finally learned all of their names.
Soon it was the end of the day, and it was time to go home. D'Shaun and I's names popped up on the Promethean board at the same time. He offered to walk me down to the car line, and I wasn't positive about where it was, so I agreed. I hugged Kristen before we left out the door, and I waved to my new friends.
When we were walking he kept looking at me, and he looked like he was going to say something. So when we were finally outside I decided to ask instead, "What is it that you want to ask me."
"I was wondering if Kristen was your boyfriend?" He says while putting his head down. I could tell that he was blushing, and the teacher that was standing near us raised her eyebrows. I could also see Andre in his car looking at us, and another car with two boys that look like D'Shaun looking at us too. One was younger, about Jamar's age. They were all looking at us confused and astonished. I could tell that they could all hear this conversation, but that wasn't going to stop me from being me.
"He's not my boyfriend," I say. D'Shaun looks at me and nods his head. "Why did you want to know?" I add. I already had possibilities in my head.
"I was just wondering" he responds his head is now fully up looking at me. I just look at him amusedly.
I get up on my tippy toes and kiss his cheek, and he turned red again. "See you later pretty boy" and with that, I walked myself to Andre's car and hopped in not expecting him to say anything in the bashful state left him in.
