GRACE'S POV

"What?" I don't think I heard that correctly. "Did you just say you're moving in with him?"

"Grace, come in the other room with me," Bridget said walking to Luke's room. I followed silently.

She shut the door behind us.

"Bridget are you out of your fucking mind?! Why would you move in with him?" This is not okay. How could she be so stupid?

"Grace, just hear me out-"

"There's nothing to hear, Bridget! Do you not understand that he's cheated on you twice? That he's hurt you and continues to hurt you? I don't understand why you keep going back to someone that has put you through so much pain. You would think you would have learned your lesson-"

"Don't say that," she said with a straight face. "You have no place to say that. I get you don't want to see me hurt but James did the same thing to you, and you're back with him. Don't talk to me like I'm your kid, first of all, and don't tell me what I can and cannot do," she spat at me.

My voice began to rise. "At least James told me the truth! You had to find out the hard way both times. He tells you he loves you and that he'll always be there for you, but guess what? He continues to say the same bullshit and you still believe it! I'm tired of him breaking you and me being left to pick up the pieces!" I yelled.

"I believe that he loves me. He continues to come back to me after all the fighting and screaming. He knows I'm here for him and I truly believe that he's changed, Grace. Whether you believe it or not," she spoke quietly and avoided any eye contact with me.

"He comes to you because he knows you'll always take him back! When are you going to wake up, Bridget? This isn't some movie where there's a happy ending, this is reality. I'm not going to sugarcoat this because it's gotten to the point where I can't take it anymore and you need to be told the truth! If you stay with him don't come crying to me when he breaks you again..." I shook my head.

She had tears brimming her eyes. "If you're so sick of 'picking up my pieces' then leave. I never asked you to," she whispered.

I bit my lips as I tried to hold back my tears. "Fine. Have a nice life." I walked out the room and James immediately stood up when he saw me in tears. He opened his mouth to speak but I cut him off.

"Are you staying here or coming with me?"

"Grace, can I please talk to you?" Luke stepped between James and I. I looked up at him.

"Maybe I can change your mind-" he continued.

"No! You can't and won't change my mind. I'm sick of you hurting her and then leaving, and I don't care what you say because none of my thoughts about you will ever change," I spoke and left with James behind me.

My blood is boiling but I want to cry. I don't know what to do. I hate being the mother in these situations. I just feel like I'm taken advantage of.

He took my keys from my hand and opened the passenger seat for me. I was silent as he drove but he held my hand.

Where we pulled into didn't make much sense to me. We were at the beach.

"Why are we here James? I just want to go home," I whispered, looking out the window.

"The beach makes you happy and calms you down." He walked over to my side of he car and opened my door for me but I didn't move.

He stuck his hand out for me to take. "C'mon Grace."
