GRACE'S POV
All I needed was to listen to his heartbeat. To see how fast it was. I needed to know how afraid he was of losing me and it was beating fast enough for me to realize how nervous he was. I could tell he meant the words he spoke.
Later, we all met back up at Bridget's beach house around noon after the love-fest was over. All the men treated us ladies to a homemade breakfast and I have to say it was pretty good for a couple of guys.
"No matter how much I would just love to sit around and eat all day, we are in Miami! Shouldn't we take advantage of the beautiful weather and the different sights? For example... the beach?" Bridget grinned.
I loved the beach. It was truly one of my favorite places to go. "Yes! Please guys? Let's go! Today! Now!" I went up to James and kissed his nose and ran upstairs to go change into my swimsuit. I wouldn't wait for a response. We were going to the beach no matter what anyone said. At least I was.
"Sounds like someone's excited to go," I heard James laugh. A few seconds later I heard footsteps running up the stairs behind me. I had no doubt who it is; Bridget and Nicolette.
We all came out of our rooms dressed and ready to go at the same time. The boys had went back and changed while we did and I'm positive they were downstairs waiting for us. We all filed down the stairs one by one.
Bridget went down wearing a light blue bikini with spaghetti straps that brought out her eyes. Then Nic came down in a violet bikini with thick ties around the back and neck. Then I came down in a pale pink strapless bikini. We were all standing on the steps in the boys presence.
They just stared at us. I had a huge grin on my face and bit my lip. I looked at James. He smiled at me showing his beautiful smile. I felt so giddy when he looked at me. I'm not used to getting this feeling all of the time. I looked at the rest of the boys faces and their mouths hung open. Except for Zach. He just looked bored.
I pushed Nicolette to keep moving and went single filed went out the door to the beach.
When I looked back at the door I saw that the boys still didn't come out. "Hold on a minute," I said to the girls.
I got out of the car and went back into the house. I snapped my fingers, whistled at them and put my hands on my hips. Zach was on his phone but the rest of them just gawked at each other. This made me laugh. "Let's go dogs! Close your mouths!" They snapped out of their daze and fumbled to get out the door. They all grabbed their things and went to their car and followed us.
We picked a spot not too far from the ocean to lay our things down. Us girls laid down our towels and chairs, also putting our umbrella up.
"I'm gonna tan for a little bit," Bridget said laying down on her towel.
"I'll join you," Nic smiled at her as she slipped on her sunglasses and laid down.
"Wanna toss around the football?" Luke asked Jason and Zach. They looked at each other and shrugged. They ran off to find an open spot to play.
"Ah, you guys are boring. I'm at the beach! I'm gonna go in the ocean. I mean we can't do this everyday in Ohio," I said running down to the blue water.
"Wait up!" I heard James yell behind me. I turned my head to look at him and he had completely dropped everything he carried in his hands and he was carrying a lot.
Right before I reached the water, he caught up with me and lifted me by the waist with ease. He ran into the water and whispered to me, "You can't slip away from me that easily."
He started leaning in and closing the distance between us. Right before he was about to kiss me I splashed him which caught him off guard and wiggled out of his grip.
I stood a few feet away from him with my hands on my hips, smirking. "Wanna bet on that?"
I'm still trying to be cautious with him after the "incident" that happened this morning. I'm going to make sure what we have is real and not a quick summer romance that will be over in a month. I wasn't going to let him get every kiss he wanted, whenever he wanted one. He was going to prove to me that he earned them.
"Let's go for a swim," he chuckled as he took my hand.
I quickly pulled my hand away and shook my head. "Bridget's the swimmer. Not me."
"That's why I'm here," he said holding his hand out for me.
Stupid little things like that make me blush... I tried looking down but it was almost impossible to hide with all of the sun shining. He pulled me onto his back as we swam farther away from the shore.
It was peaceful over here. There were no waves this far out and it was very calm. He pulled me off of his back and held my waist. "Now you try."
"I can swim," I said embarrassed. "Just... not very well."
"I used to be a lifeguard, you know. I know what I'm doing. I wouldn't let anything happened to you," He said completely honest.
For some reason, I believed him one hundred percent. Nothing about this seemed untruthful and I had no doubts. "I've actually always wanted to learn how to back-float," I stated.
"Okay. I'll start you off. Lay your back in the water and relax." He placed his hands on my lower back to hold me up. "Now you have to breath evenly and what would always help me was to clear my mind of any worries going on."
I did exactly that. I asked myself the happiest memory I had that would keep me from worrying.
Him.
He was the happiest thing that's happened to me since Zach. I haven't been talked to like this, held like this, or kissed like this in a very long time. But even the happiest story can have the saddest ending.

UGHHH sorry this is so short. Just how I've written it. I wanna stretch it out but at the same time I don't wanna put some much detail to where it's too boring to read. Because I'll be honest... I hate when people do that.
It bores me. But thanks for the few reads I've gotten and the 2 votes! Haha but thanks! Keep readingggg:)
