JAMES'S POV
I quickly got up and followed Grace to Bridget's room. I'm actually kinda worried... Why is she screaming?
Grace was already in there sitting on the bed with Bridget. Bridget was clutching a pillow to her chest as she had this look of horror on her face.
There was another boom from outside and she jumped and let out a small yelp.
"Bridget, it's only thunder! Calm down," Grace said trying to relax her.
"You know I hate thunderstorms! Do not tell me to calm down." Bridget closed her eyes. I sighed in relief. She's afraid of thunderstorms. I thought something bad actually happened! Oh Bridget...
"Bridget, you're inside. It can't hurt you," I said rubbing her arm. "It's just a little noise, that's all."
"Well the noise is too loud and I don't like it!" Bridget responded putting her hands over her ears and closing her eyes tighter.
Wow... She's really scared. I've never seen this side of Bridget! She's always so bold and brave. Look at her right now! Ha.
Grace stood up and walked out of her room. Where is she going? I sat down next to Bridget and I put my arm around her shoulders, trying to calm her down.
I feel bad because I have no idea what to do right now. This doesn't usually happen to me as much as you might think it does. I opened my mouth to say something but Grace came back in holding an iPhone wrapped in headphones.
"Here," Grace said handing Bridget's phone to her.
Without any words spoken, Bridget snatched the phone and popped the earbuds into her ears. She blasted the music to the point where I could hear it.
Grace grabbed my hand and pulled me out of Bridget's room, closing the door behind her.
"Bridget hates storms. Like that's her biggest fear. Well that and elevators..." Grace shrugged. I let out a small laugh. I would never have noticed this from Bridget.
Once the rain stopped, we went and checked on Bridget. She ending up falling asleep.
We spent the weekend just hanging out with each other and spending time together. We had some laughs and kissed a lot too...
The worst part was saying goodbye in the end. I hate leaving but I have classes tomorrow.
"I love you," I said hugging Grace close to me.
"I love you more," she said into my neck.
Before making it harder to leave, I unwrapped my arms around her and quietly stepped out of the door and into my car.
The drive was long and boring. When I got back home it was really quiet. Our lights weren't even on outside. That's weird... They usually always are.
I opened the door with my keys and stepped into our room that was pitch black.
"Hello? Anybody home?" I asked, searching for the light. I flicked it on and all I saw was emptiness. I looked around the room. Where's Luke?
I started walking towards his room and heard a faint sound of someone talking.
His door was slightly opened and I could hear someone's voice. It was either him or the TV. I slowly inched closer and tried to listen to what it was, but I couldn't make out all of it.
"It was a mistake that we broke up babe. I wanna.... I'm sorry that I ended things. No, of course I'm... I really miss you. I promise that you won't... Tomorrow. Thank you, baby."
He hung up the phone and I knocked on the door three times and slightly pushed it opened to make it seem like I just got here and wasn't standing around, listening to his phone call...
"Luke? You in here?" I asked stupidly.
"Uh yeah, man. C'mon in," he said a little jumpy. "Where the hell were you? You didn't even tell me you left or were leaving! I was getting a little worried. Friday, you just got in your car and left," he shrugged.
"Yeah. I kinda went and saw Grace for the weekend." I said sorta quietly. "I just thought, 'What the heck?' Ya know?" I shrugged.
"Uh, yeah man. I get it. So... How was Bridget doing? Is she okay?" Luke muttered.
One end of my lips slowly bent up. "She's doing okay. I think she's got a guy now." My voice got softer near the end.
"Oh. She does?" He started to rub the back of his neck.
"Ya." I nodded awkwardly. I should change the subject. "So who were you on the phone with?"
"Uh, Dara. I was talking about trying to get back together with her."
He doesn't sound too happy about that, but at least he's trying to move on. I gave him a half hearted smile.
"Good for you, bro." I slapped his back and walked towards my room.
I sat on my bed and pulled out my phone. I had three texts and one miss call from Grace.
нey, call мe or тeхт мe wнen yoυ geт нoмe ѕo ι ĸnow yoυ're ѕaғe. хoхo
нoмe yeт?
ι'м goιng тo вed. call мe ιn тнe мornιng. nιgнт love yoυ.
Crap... It's almost midnight. I would've called her if it wasn't that late. I'll text her in the morning. I don't wanna bug her.
I looked at my phone that started to ring. It was the song Kiss Me by Ed Sheeran. (Grace's ringtone that she set) I'm surprised she's awake.
"Hello?" I answered.
There was no answer on the other line. All I heard was ruffling and it sounded like someone was putting their hand over the speaker.
"Hello?" I asked again. "Grace, are you okay? You there?"
I heard a muffled, "Stop," that came from the other line. "Get away from me," came after that.
"Grace? Are you alright?" I said a little louder.
She's still not answering me. I'm starting to get a little worried.
"Just get out of my way. What are you doing? Stop!" I vaguely heard.
I quickly hung up the phone and called her back. Maybe she'll answer.
"Hello?" She answered quickly. She was breathing a little hard.
"Grace? Are you okay? What was just going on? I heard you by yelling at someone. Is everything alright?" I spoke through the line.
"Uh, yeah... I- This guy- I'm fine." She stuttered.
"What happened?" I asked a little sternly.
"I was going to my car because I left my wallet in there and some guy came up to me trying to... Uh... Steal my purse," she said the last part very fast.
My jaw clenched. "Do you want me to come back? Is he still there? I will beat-"
"No! I'm fine. Once my phone started going off he ran away. I'm fine. Do you hear me? Nothing happened. I'm still breathing and I'm still yours." She answered.
I took a deep breath. "Go back inside and just lock up, okay? I love you."
"I love you too. Goodnight," she spoke and hung up the phone. The things that she goes through just blows my mind sometimes.
I plugged my phone in for the night and shut my light off. All I will be thinking about is Grace and something bad happening to her. I probably won't get any sleep tonight, but I will close my eyes anyway.
