I wake up the next morning felling broken. I think I got only... four hours of sleep? Yeah, I think it was four. Nah, four it's too much. A sigh scapes my lips.
That kid decided to wake up for about ten times or more. Everytime for something different. From milk or a dirty diaper (which, by the way, gave me a lot of trouble to change) to just want me to rock him until he fell asleep again. Maybe he was missing his mom? I don't know, I don't speak gibberish. Either way, just the thought itself broke my heart. The words I said yesterday suddenly cross my mind. I have a responsibility over that child, I can't just give it away.
I get up and go to the bathroom. A few minutes later, I come back and my eyes wander towards the little boy, who's sleeping cutely on his baby carrier.
Yes, I put him to sleep on his carrier. He is so small that I was afraid that if I had put him on the bed with me... he would be certainly smashed. I couldn't risk killing the kid, so I put him on his carrier and put the carrier on a chair near my bed. So he slept an arm range from me.
I let the baby sleeping inside my room and walk to the kitchen, wanting something to drink. A banana milk maybe.
"Morning," I greet seeing Jungkook sitting on one of the stools while eating a bowl of cereal.
"Morning," he replies. He looks up at me, then laugh. "Geez, you look exhausted."
"Tell me about it." I take a banana milk from the refrigerator and 'throw' myself on the stool beside him to express my exhaustion.
"Where is he?" Jungkook asks.
"Sleeping in my room." I take a gulp from my drink while he nods.
"Do you feel less emotional now?"
"About the baby?" He nods and I just shrug. "Maybe. I was thinking about it yesterday night."
"What have you thought?"
"That if we keep him, I won't have more full sleeping nights." He chuckles and I do so too, "Kidding, although I really thought that." I smile, stretching my back as the memories from my sleepless night comes back to me.
"What else have you thought then?"
knowing where he wants to get, I adjust myself on the stool as I turn to face him.
"I was thinking about the things you've said. And I can't say I don't agree with big part of them, if not all."
"I'm happy you're in your right state of mind now." He chuckles.
"BUT, I still think we should possibly keep him."
He sighs, "Y/n..."
"But," I cut him, "I also know your position about this. So I thought 'Why don't we make a deal between the two pats?' And I've got to a possible solution."
"Which is?" He gestures for me to continue.
"Why don't we keep him with us for a few months, then if we really can't take care of him, we..." I take a deep breath, "let him go."
"But we can't take care of him, Y/n."
"You won't know it for sure if we don't try!" I complain. He sighs and put his face in between his hands, "We need to try, Jungkook. He was left on our doorstep for a mysterious reason, okay, but he was left with us! We have some kind of responsibility over him."
"I still don't know."
"If, in the end of theses months, we realize that we can't give him the best, even if it's only our best, and we think that he deserves better... I'll agreed with you and decide not to keep him. But at least we'll know we did all we could and won't feel guilty about it." He just stares at me in silence. Just blinking his dark eyes. His forehead starts frowning as if he is thinking hard about what I've just said. He doesn't seems fully convinced, though. So I try again. "If we don't try, I think I'll wonder forever about the fact that we abandoned him too. He doesn't deserve that. No one does."
