Munhee is already up, crawling clumsily around the living room, babbling at nothing in particular, when Jungkook's mom knocks on our door with the brightest smile. Her arms are already open for her grandson, and she doesn't even give me or Jungkook a chance to protest.
"I'll keep him for the weekend," she says, like it's the most natural thing in the world. "You two deserve some time for yourselves. It'll be good for you."
Her words hit me differently. For us. As if Jungkook and I are one unit. A couple. The parents of this beautiful boy. I swallow hard, glancing sideways at Jungkook. He rubs the back of his neck awkwardly, his expression a mix of gratitude and embarrassment.
"Uh... really, Mom, you don't have to—"
"I want to," she interrupts, already scooping Munhee up, kissing his chubby cheeks. Munhee squeals, tiny fists pulling at her hair, and I can't help but smile at how natural she is with him. "Go enjoy yourselves. Don't waste time sitting at home all weekend. You're young! Go out, have fun, pretend for just a little while that you're not tied down with responsibilities."
I laugh nervously, tucking hair behind my ear. "That sounds... nice."
Jungkook meets my eyes briefly, and for the first time in a while, there isn't tension in the air. Just an unspoken agreement—yeah, maybe it would be nice.

By noon, the apartment is strangely quiet without Munhee's presence. His toys are scattered on the rug, his little blanket draped over the arm of the couch, the bottle rack on the kitchen counter still drying from this morning's wash. In a way my chest squeezes with a strange emptiness, but also... relief. I forgot what not having a baby felt like.
"What do we do now?" I ask, breaking the silence, as Jungkook leans back against the counter with a lazy shrug.
"What do friends do when they suddenly don't have a baby to look after?" His smirk is playful, almost daring.
I tilt my head, crossing my arms. "Eat junk food? Sleep? Watch Netflix until our eyes bleed?"
"Or," he drawls, "we could go out."
"Out?"
"Yeah." He pushes off the counter, standing straighter, eyes shining with mischief. "A bar. Drinks. Loud music. People. You know... real adult fun."
I blink at him, trying to picture us in that scenario. I haven't gone drinking in what feels like forever. But maybe that's exactly why the idea is so appealing.
"You're serious?"
"As serious as a hangover tomorrow morning," he says, grinning.
"I refuse to go to a club after that last time, tho." I say, remembering all the things that happened when we left Munhee with his young nanny and went clubbing with our friends.
"Trust me, that's not what I had in mind," he smiles.
I chew on my lip, then sigh dramatically. "Fine. But if we end up singing karaoke at three in the morning, that's on you."
His laugh fills the kitchen, warm and genuine, and something flutters inside me that I immediately shove down. This is just two friends blowing off steam. Nothing else. Don't get your hopes up just to have them brought down, Y/n.
The bar Jungkook chooses isn't too crowded yet when we arrive that evening. The low hum of music vibrates through the floorboards, the dim lighting making everything feel hazy, intimate.
I slide into the booth beside him, fingers tapping anxiously against the table.
"It feels weird," I admit.
